Apart from the currency decimalization bringing the U.K. into line has been a complete balls up.

Keep up the good work, half the tools you talk about a readily available in U.S./Can but are not obtainable or if they are at an exorbitant cost. I blame going metric people my age talk in16ths and inches. My son who is now 33 still goes to B&Q looking for 2"x4" in 2M lengths.

I'm surprised you didn't name the episode "The Perforator"! When I was in late elementary and Jr. High School, my first savings account would be marked with a very similar device of perhaps the same vintage when I had completed a page. The teller would congratulate me on saving every week, but I don't remember what was marked at the bottom of the passbook (which was lost to time, unfortunately). When you are growing up you don't know what everyday items will become mysterious anachronisms 50 years later! ...and I share your love of nickel plating. Subtle and elegant when done right.
