Go ahead! It's worth the read. And its a perfect example of their long standing rivalry summed up in a single issue.

I understand your rationale for the possession and I still think it is a very clever take on the Allura-Zatanna rivalry. If they ever do come face to face, then I doubt the encounter will be any different than their usual encounters in the comic book. One of the best examples of their encounters can be found in Zatanna Special #1 (1987) when Allura owned Zatanna and got away scot-free.

I've wanted to bring her in for the longest time but never found a decent model to use... so the idea of her being forced inside Zatanna and locked away due to John's final act, not only gave me the model I needed with giving Zee a new costume to wear... but some literal inner conflict, I really warmed to. maybe one day they'll come face to face!

This is a very clever spin on her. In the comic books, Allura never tried to possess Zatanna. I suspect her vanity and her ego had a lot to do with her not screwing Zatanna in that way.

It's nice to see Allura again! In the comic books, she was a recurring villain who would pop up, make Zatanna her bitch and leave just as quickly. Zatanna never truly defeated Allura in a head-up fight so it's nice to see her again--especially in possession of Zatanna herself. 😀
