MHA81- I Have an Idea!
🕑 Added 2025-04-21 15:52:38 +0000 UTCSmall heads-up... In the canon MHA timeline, the Two Heroes movie takes place after the Final Exams arc. But I, your humble chaos scribe, got a little too deep into writing the Forest Lodge, Kamino, and Post-Raid arcs… and, well, forgot. Since the movie also heavily involves support gear and lines up perfectly with Ryuu’s newly unlocked [Crafting Room], I decided not to shift the entire timeline backwards. So in this version, the I-Island arc takes place shortly after the Provisional License Exam. Call it a soft AU divergence with extra tech, more Class 1-A shenanigans, and Ryuu.

It was a beautiful and quiet day. And as most beautiful and quiet days go, it was destined to be shattered by my loud-ass classmates. I could feel it in my balls.
I was draped over the common room couch like a corpse in a hoodie, milking yesterday’s training for all the sympathy I could get. I wasn’t injured. I just didn’t feel like existing productively. Upstairs, Kaminari and Sero were laughing at a meme that was probably grounds for suspension. Mina was off-key karaoke-ing in the shower like she had a record deal. Bakugo had locked himself in the kitchen and declared it a warzone. Everything was, tragically, normal.
Then she walked in—Momo Yaoyorozu. Vice Prez. Queen of Posture. Eyes Too Sharp For This World.
She didn’t say anything. Just stood there, arms tense, holding a glossy brochure like it was radioactive. Looked at it. Looked at me. Back at it again.
I stared at the ceiling. “Here it comes.”
“You got something to confess, Yaoyao? If it’s a crush, I should warn you—my waiting list’s full.”
She didn’t blink. “I have a proposal.”
“Damn. No dinner first? But hey—yes, yes, oh my god, yes!”
She shoved the brochure into my chest like she was throwing hands. “Just read. I already regret this.”
"Ouch!" I rubbed my chest where she shoved the brochure, sighing, flipped it open, and scanned. “Young Geniuses Showcase,” I read aloud. “I-Island’s annual nerd-off, now with extra lab coats. Tech summit, inventions, collaborations… impress the world. God, this reeks of inspirational background music.”
Momo gave me that tight-lipped look she used when she was pretending not to throttle me. A very refined ‘Shut up, Ryuu’ expression.
“I want to enter,” she said, posture straight. “And you are a nerd.”
I squinted at her. “You?”
“Yes.”
“No offense, Yaoyao, but don’t you already have, like, ten patents under your belt? Why the nerves now?”
She hesitated.
Ah. Good ol’ doubt. The kind that comes not from fear, but from being smart enough to know what greatness is—and thinking you haven’t hit it yet. Momo carried pressure like it was part of her hero costume. The kind of pressure you only get when you’re second-best in a world where people expect you to be perfect. I am too damn awesome, can't help it.
“I don’t want to just create something functional,” she said. “I want to create something memorable. Something ours.”
There it was.
I closed the brochure and tapped it against my knee. “You want help?”
She nodded, looking at me with that blend of puppy eyes of hopeful and threatening sharpness of 'I know your secrets.'
I grinned. “Then you’ve got it. But we’re dragging the whole circus.”
Momo blinked. “What?”
“We’re turning this into a Class 1-A Field Trip. Mandatory. No exceptions.”
“I didn’t—wait—”
Too late. I was already standing. “OI, LOSERS!” I shouted toward the stairwell. “PACK YOUR SHIT! FIELD TRIP!”
Somewhere upstairs, a crash echoed. Probably Kaminari falling down the stairs again.

Aizawa didn’t even look up from his thermos. “No.”
“It’s educational,” I said, like that word had never been abused before.
“No.”
“I-Island’s offering us an official invite. Look,” I held up the brochure like it was gospel. “You want a shiny homeroom report? This’ll do it.”
Sip. “Still no.”
I leaned in. “Media coverage. Scouts. Possibly free food.”
Pause. Dangerous silence. Then:
Aizawa sighed. “How many are going?”
“All of us.”
“Why.”
“For team synergy,” I said, throwing jazz hands for emphasis.
“You just want to mess around on I-Island.”
“Also that.”
He closed the thermos and snapped the lid shut with the finality of a man giving up on peace.
“If anything breaks, you’re paying.”
“Deal.”
“Personal liability waiver.”
“Sure.”
“Midnight supervises.”
“Wait, what?”
“Take it or leave it.”
I grinned. “Deal.”
Back at the dorms, the group chat was already on fire.
Group Chat: 1-A’s Questionable Decisions
Kirishima: YO WE’RE GOING TO I-ISLAND???
Mina: SCIENCE FESTIVAL??? I’M BRINGING GOGGLES AND UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
Sero: Did someone say explosions? Or am I manifesting again?
Kaminari: Me and Sero already have matching coats and zero plans.
Shoji: I’m interested in the robotics wing. I want to see what kind of prosthetics they develop.
Jiro: Are we building a speaker bomb? Because I’m in.
Todoroki: Can someone explain what’s happening.
Iida: THIS MUST BE STRUCTURED. MEETING IN TEN MINUTES. WE WILL DISCUSS SLEEP SCHEDULE ROTATIONS.
Mineta: Do they have hot scientists?
Ryuu: You’re banned.
Mineta: From what.
Ryuu: Life.
Mineta: That’s fair. Can I still come if I wear a shock collar?
Shoji: Already ordered.
Momo looked over my shoulder, watching the slow social unraveling with horror. “Are you sure this is a good idea?”
“Absolutely not,” I said. “That’s why it’ll be fun.”
She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. But when I glanced back, she sighed. Just shook her head like I given her a brain injury. But she didn’t say no.
“Oh, and before I forget,” she added, tone way too casual. “I invited Mei Hatsume.”
I froze mid-scroll. “You what.”
“I thought her input would be valuable.”
“She’s a walking lawsuit waiting for a court date.”
“Exactly.”
And for the first time in my entire chaotic existence—I was proud.
Later that night, we were in my room, sitting at my desk surrounded by what could only be described as organized chaos. Blueprints, schematics, open notebooks, and enough snack wrappers to get us expelled by any self-respecting health inspector.
“Why are we in your room again?” Momo asked, as if I was doing her nasty things.
I didn’t look up. “Yours has a queen-sized bed, a personal library, a butler, two maids, and not enough floor space to for both of us to stand. Also, I don’t trust myself in there.”
“That is an exaggeration,” she muttered.
“Is it?”
She went quiet.
Victory.
The desk between us was a war zone of invention. Her blueprints were immaculate—perfect lines, flawless structure. Mine? Looked like a madman with a Red Bull addiction got access to a 3D modeling printer. Which… wasn’t far off.
I shoved one of her diagrams back to her. “This your gear-core mechanism?”
She leaned in. “You refined it.”
I shrugged. “Had time.”
“What time?” she frowned. “You were with me all day.”
“Maybe I’m just that efficient.”
She narrowed her eyes. I met her gaze without blinking. This was our foreplay.
Momo handled the visual design—her memory was scary good. She drew part-by-part interfaces with clean lines and terrifying speed. I handled the weird bits. The power conversion nodes. The energy rotation cores. The quantum-stabilized modular ring.
What she didn’t know? Every time I "zoned out" to grab a snack, or “rested my eyes,” I was stepping into the [Crafting Room].
The system hummed quietly in my mind.
[CRAFTING ROOM ACTIVE. SCANNING: Blueprints... Synced. Analyzing Ryuu's dumbest idea... 62% plausible.]
Inside the Room, logic bent around me. I could draw energy patterns in the air. Material resistance ran like fluid. Metal textures morphed under my fingers, and simulations ran faster than any real-world software. It was like playing God, if God had to respect energy efficiency and mass ratios.
Outside, I sipped water like I wasn’t just solving magnetic oscillation balance problems in bullet-time.
Momo handed me another part to check. “This is the support housing for the main module.”
“Too heavy,” I said without missing a beat. “Shift the internal plates to carbon-layered segments. Triple-reinforce the joint pivots.”
She paused. “...You’re really doing this?”
I kept my tone lazy. “Allegedly.”
Her eyes flicked up. “You act like you’ve built black market gear before.”
I grinned. “Who’s to say I haven’t?”
She rolled her eyes, but her mouth twitched.
We worked in silence for a bit—except it wasn’t really silence. It was the kind of quiet you only got when you didn’t mind sitting with someone. The click of a pen. The scribble of a draft. Her hair falling over her shoulder as she leaned in to study a line I just drew.
“You know,” I said eventually, “if we don’t win this thing, I’m going to blame Hatsume.”
“She hasn’t even touched the design yet.”
“Exactly.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment,” said a voice from my doorway.
Momo jumped. I didn’t. Because of course she was already here.
“Hatsume,” Momo said, recovering. “You’re early.”
“Technically,” she replied, already holding a tablet. “I brought ideas.”
I sighed. “If one of those ideas includes adding rockets to the ring, I’m saying no in advance.”
“What if it’s rocket boots?”
“I’m listening.”
She grinned like a shark. “Good. Now move. I wanna mess with the stabilizers.”
Momo glanced at me. I shrugged. “I’ll keep her from turning it into a jet-powered yo-yo. Probably.”
She sighed. “Why did I think this was a good idea?”
“Because you trust me,” I said, grabbing a fresh notebook. “And because somewhere deep down, Yaoyao, you like chaos.”
She didn’t deny it.

Hah. Should’ve known it would be a nightmare to travel with the class. Should’ve fucking known. Why did I ever think I was the reckless one?
"Bakugo, I swear to god, pop your hand again and I will personally FedEx your ass back to school in bubble wrap."
He glared, sparks dancing off his palm. "Try me, bastard."
Midnight slid between us like it was a regular Tuesday, with a thin smile promised paddles, whips and good time. "He’s right, Bakugo. Airport security’s already suspicious."
Bakugo scoffed and looked away, muttering, “Stupid extras.”
I sighed, adjusting the hoodie. Then Midnight leaned in, propping her elbow on my shoulder like she was my flirty older cousin and not the class chaperone from hell. “How cute. Look at you, acting like a grown-up wrangling his little chicks.”
“I’m not their babysitter.”
“No,” she smirked. “You’re their blueprint.”
And right on cue, Kaminari attempted a backflip off a luggage cart and collided with Sero, who was filming a TikTok mid-spin. Iida shouted something about “travel etiquette,” Mina was sticking airport barcode stickers to her jacket, and Mineta? Already zip-tied to a bench by Shoji and banned from getting within five feet of any woman. My idea. You’re welcome, society.
“I should’ve stayed home,” I muttered.
“You invited this,” said Momo, appearing next to me like a ghost of consequences past. The ‘I told you so’ radiating off her aura was louder than Present Mic.
“Why did you say yes then?”
She tilted her head. “Because you said it would be fun.”
I stared at her. “I was lying.”
She didn’t answer, but she smiled.
That’s how I knew we were doomed.
Momo glanced at the terminal, then back at the class. “I hope this is worth it.”
I slung my bag over my shoulder. “It will be. Even if we blow up the hotel. Especially if we blow up the hotel.”
Flight came and went. I slept through it. Not out of peace, mind you—just self-preservation. If I stayed awake for more than ten minutes, I was going to "accidentally" throw someone out the emergency exit. Probably Mineta.
I woke up halfway through landing because Uraraka elbowed me trying to get out. "Sorry!" she whispered, not sorry at all.
Ojiro was two rows back, quietly doing neck stretches like the most disciplined monk on the plane. Sato was across the aisle, crushing a protein bar like it insulted his mother. Tsuyu was watching squid documentaries on the in-flight screen with full, unblinking seriousness. Tokoyami was scribbling edgy poetry in a black leather notebook like he hadn’t blinked since takeoff. And Izuku? Izuku was mumbling hero stats in his sleep. I wish I was kidding. The man talks in bullet points.
I turned to the seat beside me. Toru was there.
"Morning, sunshine," she whispered with a grin.
I blinked. "I am hallucinating. The air pressure broke me."
"Nah," she said. "You are just grumpy little baby."
