Until now, the SCI operated in fragments, each member handling their own sector without knowing the full picture. Only Mirko, Ryukyu, and Nezu knew how deep this ran. Now, for the first time, every piece was coming together.
Edgeshot broke the silence. "You are telling us the League is already preparing a counteroffensive?"
"They've been preparing for months," I said. "The raid will go south the second it starts. The Paranormal Liberation Front has more people, more resources, and more information than the Commission realizes."
Kamui Woods looked around the room, then at me. "I don't know how you got your information, but you are saying the Commission knew about this and still failed to realize it?"
I nodded, glancing at Best Jeanist. "Hawks is a double agent in the PLF. He was sending intel to the Commission for months. How deep he is or if he is compromised, I don't know. But Gran Torino and Tsukauchi should."
The two of them stiffened. Gran Torino's usual indifference cracked just a little, and Tsukauchi frowned, arms crossing.
"How the hell do you know that?" Tsukauchi asked.
I shrugged. "My contact outranks Hawks in their organization. I know things he doesn't."
Aizawa's gaze sharpened. "And how reliable is this contact?"
"Reliable enough to keep me from getting a bullet in the head, courtesy of both the League and the Commission."
Aizawa snorted. "So you are saying your info is better than what the damn government has?"
"Yeah."
Mirko grinned. "Hah. Figures."
Best Jeanist exhaled. "We had no intel on Garaki being a clone."
"Of course you wouldn't," I said. "If the Commission was smart, they would've considered the possibility too. They know about Twice. But instead, they are walking straight into a trap."
Nezu nodded. "Then that means their entire strategy is already compromised."
"Exactly."
Ryukyu leaned forward. "What do we know about the real Garaki's location?"
I shook my head. "Nothing. The League moved him before we could pinpoint it. But I have a lead. Someone in the PLF who's been keeping tabs on high-level movements."
Edgeshot tapped the table. "If the Commission is compromised, how much of their plan is salvageable?"
I glanced at Nezu. "That depends. How fast can you counter their fuckups?"
Nezu steepled his fingers. "That depends on how much damage control we need to do."
Kamui Woods frowned. "And what is stopping the Commission from screwing this up even worse?"
"The fact that they don't know about us." I looked around. "SCI exists because we knew they would drop the ball eventually. This is that moment. The League is expecting them, but they are not expecting us."
Fatgum scratched his chin. "So what, we are just gonna swoop in and clean up the mess?"
"If necessary."
Tsukauchi sighed. "And what is your plan for that?"
I crossed my arms. "We have three priorities, one, minimize casualties. Two, keep the Commission from realizing they are being played. Three, extract critical targets before shit spirals."
Best Jeanist tilted his head. "Critical targets?"
I nodded. "There are high-value members in the League and PLF that need to be taken alive. If we can get them, we cripple their operations before the real fight even starts."
Nezu nodded. "And who are these targets?"
I tapped the table. "Re-Destro, Skeptic, and Trumpet. If we pull them out, the PLF's entire chain of command collapses. The League will be forced to take control, and they are not equipped to manage an army."
Aizawa rubbed his temples. "So we need to extract them without tipping our hand?"
"Exactly."
Mirko grinned. "Sounds fun."
Ryukyu sighed. "Sounds impossible."
Edgeshot nodded. "It is risky, but not impossible. If we time it right, we can slip in before the Commission even realizes something is off."
Aizawa crossed his arms. "And if we can't?"
I shrugged. "Shit goes down, we get blamed for treason, and a lot more."
Fatgum let out a low whistle. "Not gonna lie, I was kinda hoping for a better answer."
"There ain't one," Mirko said, arms still crossed. "If the Commission screws up, we either fix it, or everyone pays the price."
Aizawa rubbed his eyes. "So nothing new."
Edgeshot leaned forward slightly. "What is your counterplan?"
"Their main force will be tied up chasing ghosts, that is our opening."
Best Jeanist’s gaze darted from me to others. "And if they realize we are operating?"
Nezu answered before I could. "Then we let them believe it was their own failure."
Kamui Woods exhaled. "That is a hell of a gamble."
Tsukauchi was still frowning, arms crossed. "Even if we get the PLF heads, what about the League? Shigaraki is the real threat here."
"He is.” I nodded. “But if the PLF collapses, the League gets exposed. Right now, they are using the PLF's numbers and resources to operate. Cut that off, and they have to move differently."
Ryukyu tapped her fingers against the table. "You are talking about forcing them into action."
"Yeah." I let my shoulders drop slightly. "Right now, they can sit back and let the PLF take the hits. If we dismantle that, they don't have that luxury anymore."
"So we're setting a trap?"
I looked at him. "We are setting the board so they can't escape it."
Nezu nodded slightly. "It is a good plan."
Aizawa exhaled. "Risky as hell."
"Everything is," I said.
Yaoyorozu, who had been quiet until now, finally spoke. "What is the extraction method?"
Selkie leaned forward slightly. "I assume my team is handling that."
I nodded. "Maritime escape for the high-value targets. If anything goes south, you are the fallback."
He gave a nod. "We will be ready."
Best Jeanist looked around. "And Hawks?"
That got everyone's attention.
I sighed. "He is deep cover in the PLF. He is the Commission's man, but he doesn't know about us. I've been keeping tabs on him."
Tsukauchi's frown deepened. "How?"
I tapped my head. "Same way I keep tabs on everything else."
Edgeshot tilted his head slightly. "Does he suspect?"
"No." I shook my head. "He is careful, but he is working off limited info. The Commission keeps him in the dark on purpose."
Kamui Woods let out a silent curse. "So he is not compromised, but he is not exactly safe either."
"Exactly."
"For now." I glanced around the room. "The second he becomes a liability, we pull him out."
Nezu's eyes flickered. "Or remove him."
No one said anything.
Fatgum exhaled. "Damn."
Tsukauchi shook his head. "He is on our side."
"For now," Aizawa muttered.
Jeanist didn't say anything, but I could tell he wasn't thrilled.
I pushed forward. "This is the best time to move. The PLF thinks they are untouchable. The Commission thinks they are in control. We know better."
Nezu's claws twitched. "Do you know where Re-Destro and the others are?"
“I do. But timing is crucial. Too early, and the League will realize something is off. Too late, and there won't be enough chaos in the PLF to cripple them. We have to time the operation, then fall back in with the Commission's raid before anyone notices we were even there."
Edgeshot’s brows furrowed, "That assumes we can extract them cleanly. If the League suspects, we are dealing with an even bigger problem."
I chuckled. "Don't worry. My contact will arrange them isolated in a place we can easily remove."
That got enough of a reaction.
"They might be really high in the chain," Yaoyorozu mumbled.
I turned to Tsukauchi. "I will require a pardon for my contact after all this ends. I have enough proof showing their innocence. They were always feeding Ryukyu, Mirko, and I with news of the League."
Ryukyu frowned slightly but didn't object.
Tsukauchi sighed through his nose. "This contact of yours, how deep are they in?"
"Deep enough that if the Commission ever found out, they would be dead within the day."
Best Jeanist narrowed his eyes slightly. "And you trust them?"
Mirko scoffed. "He wouldn't be here vouching for them if he didn't."
Edgeshot glanced at me. "How do we know they aren't playing both sides?"
I met his gaze. "Because if they were, we would already be dead."
Kamui Woods folded his arms. "That is not exactly reassuring."
Nezu tapped his claws against the table. "Yet it is practical."
Gran Torino put his clenched fist on the table. "You are banking a lot on this contact."
"They came through every time. League movements, Commission leaks, locations, without them, we would be working blind."
Fatgum scratched his chin. "So they've been useful, but what is their motivation?"
"They don't want to see the world burn." I leaned forward. "Not everyone in the League is there for the same reason. Some are just trapped."
Tsukauchi frowned. "If that is the case, why haven't they left?"
I sighed. "Because the League doesn't let people leave. They didn't join for ideology. They joined to survive. That is the difference."
Edgeshot studied me. "And you think they will keep feeding you intel once we move?"
I nodded. "If I give them my word that they will be safe."
Aizawa leaned against the table. "Then what happens to them after?"
I turned back to Tsukauchi. "That is why I need the pardon."
Tsukauchi rubbed his temples. "You are putting me in a hell of a position here."
Nezu smiled slightly. "It is a fair trade. We get ahead of the League, and in return, one person walks free."
Tsukauchi sighed. "If this leaks, it is my badge, prove they are worth the pardon."
I met his gaze. "Completely."
He shook his head. "Fine. But if this backfires…"
"It won't."
Mirko smirked. "Man, you really trust this rat." She turned to Nezu, “No offense.”
I glanced at her. "Like I said, if they were playing me, I wouldn't be standing here."
Ryukyu exhaled softly. "If this goes wrong, it won't just be you on the line. You know that."
I nodded. "Yeah."
Aizawa crossed his arms. "Then let's hope your gamble pays off."
Kamui Woods tapped a finger against the table. "So we're moving forward with extraction, but what's our window?"
I glanced at Nezu.
Nezu tilted his head. "Coordinate their isolation, I will handle timing."
Selkie adjusted his cap. "I will have an extraction route set. If we need to move by sea, I will be ready."
Fatgum nodded. "And if things go south?"
Mirko cracked her knuckles. "Then we punch our way out."
Tsukauchi sighed. "Of course."
"I know what you are all thinking," I said, resting my hands on the table. "Who do you think the League will turn to when they realize they are attacked tomorrow?" I let the question sit, watching the gears turn in their heads. "It will be Hawks. He is the closest to them, the easiest to reach, and the one they trust most. When the shitstorm begins, they will expect him to act."
Best Jeanist's hands clenched slightly. "Hawks is capable of handling himself."
"He is," I agreed, "but even he cannot fight a war on two fronts." I leaned forward. "I formed SCI for this exact reason. The Commission set him up as their ultimate weapon, their golden piece on the board. They will not pull him, no matter how bad things get. They will let him die if it means securing their victory."
Tsukauchi's lips pressed into a thin line. "The Commission is ruthless, but I doubt they would let one of their best assets be…"
"You are giving them too much credit," Mirko cut in, arms still crossed. "You see how they operate. If sacrificing Hawks makes their job easier, they will do it without blinking."
Ryukyu nodded. "They do not care about him as a person. He is a tool, and once a tool is no longer useful…"
"They throw it away," I finished.
