Expectations can turn into iron shackles. In a traditional sense I’ve surpassed my dad but not in the way he expected. He went from harsh to proud when he realized it. My parents were from two different worlds and views. I broke the trauma cycle from my mom’s side and met the traditional requirements from my dad’s side. My accomplishments are my own.
