'It was >>Layed<< out the same way as all the other new villages.' Uncapitalize and spelled "laid". 'Mainly, I have been busy with the water wheels, but I have been giving >>input<< on the new loom.' As this is all presumably translated from some otherworldly language into modern English for us all I'm not sure how relevent what I am about to say is but "input" doesn't sound very old timey. There are passages, especially early on, where you seem to care about the fantasy medieval people speaking in an archaic fashion and times when modern jargon slips in. I may have pointed this out before on another account in RR but I thought I would do so again just in case as it feels like you meant these characters to use less modern sounding jargon. * shrugs * "Won't their ships try and follow ours," he said. If his enemies would crush him for the secret of the cloth they woudl probably crush him for the secret of some mysterious foreign source of trade that can make or acquire such fabulous things. 'There was one more group of women that were moving the cloth out the back door?" Unnecessary quotation marks. 'I was more concerned with things that could help with the war.' He's calling his little baronies battle with semiprofessional/professional slaver bandits a war. He's adopting a Kingly mindset early on! :) 'Yes, That would be best. ' Was the "Yes" supposed to be followed by a period or was the "That" supposed to be uncapitalized? 'If we had a few of them in each city, they could help with more heavily armored opponents. ' And his villages cities. Definitely Kindom bound... 'A few of the >>shoulders<< took a step back. Tumlus’ head sunk into his shoulders.' Soldiers? “Excellent. In fact, you are going to have to find a place to put your >>count<< up for the night.” Actually don't remember the rule for this but millions of pages of pseudo medieval fantasy reading is calling out to me that this should be capitalized? “Pine Ridge., Drives said. Missing quotations. "Draves" said. '>>Tarance<< tried to apologize for it being so small, but I thought it was perfect.' I don't have the characters names memorized perfectly but you spelled it differently before in the same story so one of them probably needs altering. 'What didn't make sense to me was how it exploded in the world without pressure.' I think the "in the world" part was somehow meant to be in commas back by the word "how". If not then something cause this is an odd sentence. 'My thought was someone walked and opened the barrel to see what was inside, and it lit on fire.' "in" after the word "walked". 'One of the >>Men<< was Johnathan¸, one of the original founders of Cove Village.' Uncapitalize. "Yes, my lord. Technically, I have a full platoon of fifty, but two >>><<< are constantly rotated out for the work detail of building the canal. So we have thirty in the fort." "Two" what? Squads? Details? Troups? "They are probably building fortifications then and will hire >>higher<< mercenaries." Unnecessary word? Or at least I have no idea why it is here since they haven't hired any mercs yet, lower or otherwise, and there has been no discussion of "higher" vs. "lower" mercs. Higher "class" maybe? Interesting that they feel they can "guarantee" getting rid of a majority of the force the barony is building by the time we get there. To be that sure it sounds like they are going to make his enlarged force of trained peasants and push forward a petition of nobles that he be forced to send them to the war front on the basis that the war isn't going all that well and he is far away from any known need to have them. Be funny if he defeats it by making them demonstrate their uselessness before hand which the nobles are by now genetically predisposed to believe as they likely all had their families become nobles over the centuries by being the elite warrior class that protected the weak martially useless peasants. Don't know what Amos will actually do but if he sends an elite force to the front without making some strong gesture of allegiance to the King then his so so ally may feel threatened. Probably his political enemies will just make a faint at one of his opposite borders or have one of his new barons beg for aid drawing a bunch of them off to chase fake raiders. This should be fun. They take away all his soldiers and he just blows them all up with a trapped fake walled courtyard built in front of his real fort and maybe some catapults with explosives take out the ships? They aren't expecting him to have that advanced of defenses so they will probably anchor too close to support their raiders against entrenched half trained defenders. Got to kill them all to keep the secret. Hope Amos has got his blood fully up and in the locked position for this!
