JoiPlay 1.20.600 and Plugin Updates
🕑 Added 2025-07-27 15:52:07 +0000 UTCHey everyone! It’s been a while! Work has kept me pretty busy lately, so I haven’t had much time to work on JoiPlay over the past few months. But I finally got a chance to focus on it during my annual leave to release an update!
A more customizable and modular virtual gamepad was one of the most requested features in the recent user survey. In response, I’ve rebuilt the gamepad system from the ground up to better match your feedback. Please note that this new version is not compatible with previous gamepad configurations due to its redesigned structure.
Improvements have also been made to the handling of external Node.js modules. There were some significant issues with compatibility and path resolution, which have now been addressed. While performance and stability should be improved, some edge cases involving path detection and script context may still require further refinement.
Ren'Py has been updated to version 8.4.1. As this version introduces breaking changes compared to earlier releases, a new plugin was created rather than modifying the existing Ren'Py 8.3.7 plugin. All Ren'Py plugins now include support for the updated virtual gamepad system.
The RPG Maker plugin has received several minor updates, including shader optimizations, encoding fixes, and improvements to internal pixel region operations for better performance and accuracy.
Ruffle plugin has been updated to include the latest version of Ruffle and its third-party dependencies, enhancing compatibility and overall functionality.

I keep getting an error on some games that just says "Parsing The Script Failed". Anyone know how to fix this?

A request, would it be possible to have a more compact, all-in-one installer, so the user doesn't need to download an ever-increasing amount on installers for an OS that isn't exactly good at multitasking?

How can I manually change the language? I'm using the Lenovo Y700 tablet with the Chinese ROM, and the app is stuck in Chinese. I tried forcing the app language to English (from tablet settings), but it didn’t work. I also checked JoiPlay settings, but I couldn't find any option to change the language. Edit: The issue was caused by a tablet update. I found a system fix on XDA, and everything's working fine now.

Could you add a feature to change the game controller from a joystick to a + key? Also, I'd like to see a Ctrl key added to the right buttons. Some RPGs still use Ctrl as a skip button, so I'd appreciate it if you could keep that key.

A bug report and some requests: Bug report: when trying to change the size of a circle button (after changing it to a rectangle and back, but idk if that part is needed for replication), trying to change the size of the button causes the length and width to not match up, and it's difficult to adjust. It's easier to explain visually than with words. Request 1: With the Ren'py controller buttons, can you provide an option to change them to represent the page up and page down keys so we can scroll back and forth through dialogue? Request 2: The grid when editing buttons, I assume the button snaps-to the grid lines? If so, it'd be nice to have an option to make the grid have less lines, kind of a stricter snap-to, so that I'm not trying to align buttons and screwing up by just a tiny bit. Thank you!

Is anybody else having issues enabling cheats? It worked on the last version and now the button doesn’t do anything
