thats not entirely correct. in the German Armed Forces, the military salut remained valid until the 20.07. 1944, whenever the person who carried out the salut did wear headgear. The Hitler salute had to be carried out in case no headgear was worn. After that date, the Hitler salute had to be carried out on all occasions.
