What are your thoughts on the new Sungazer album?

Kyle Cahill

Would you ever put a song from reviewing your music on your best singles of the year list?

Alex Alcalde

Shakira’s early work before she was only making pop bangers for Americans, was actually some of the best music of the 90’s.

Jack Bayley

Brainiac’s Hissing Priggs in Static Couture was really ahead of its time! Lots of bands like Death From Above 1979 (who are also great) have a lot of the same DNA except happened A LOT later! Just wondering if you have heard of Brainiac and what your thoughts are? BTW the album cover is just about the most 90s thing in history!

That's actually a fairly reasonable comparison, not exactly a hot take

James Carlisle

Low is to David Bowie what Kid A is to Radiohead. They both come out of a state of mental/emotional turmoil. They’re both massive left turns into electronic and experimental territory. And they’re both pretty depressing.

Pitchfork giving the Nine Inch Nails album The Fragile a 2 is one of the most absurd music reviews of all time. Doesn't help that the writer was such a massive douchebag and offered no critical insight other than it being "emo" for the harsh score. You have that review as a thumbnail but never actually addressed it so I'd like to hear your opinion on it based on the lil tease alone

Pow-wow

Chester Bennington is an amazing singer and should be up there with the legends of the rock genre

Jack Bayley

Thom Yorke makes some pretty great music, but is a super cringe guy. If you don’t believe me check out his inclusion on the UK quiz show, Big Fat Quiz Of The Year on YouTube. It really hurts to watch!

What would the best Wilco album be then? I’ve only listen to YHF and I really liked it.

She Wolf is a top 5 Halloween themed song

Squanto

Some work really well. Closer to Teens of Denial and Patti Smith’s Horses are great examples

Chris Hickson

I know you only started reviewing King Gizz when Paper Mache Dream Balloon dropped, but do you have any strong thoughts about their discography before that point (i.e. I’m in Your Mind Fuzz, Quarters, Eyes Like the Sky?)

We need to ban sleepy acoustic closing tracks on albums (i.e. Growth off the new illuminati hotties) Songs like that are always super anticlimactic and do nothing for me. Imagine if the Black Parade ended with Gerard crying over a fingerpicked guitar, it would be weak and boring. A closer should be grand and wrap everything up in a satisfying way, but acoustic songs are too uneventful to do that.

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is not the best album from 2002. It's not even the best Wilco album.
