Boomer just say Barry how you would say the persons name 😂 that's what everyone else does
Aimee
Little English lesson..if something has “come off the back of a lorry” it’s been stolen 😂
Joe Thornhill
That's the thing. I always just naturally knew them as bumper cars, and when first hearing dodgems, had no idea, couldn't make the connection, and just didn't get the name anyway. Because lets face it, you bump (more like ram) more than you dodge. It's more fun that way.
Kieran B
We called Bumper Cars ‘Dodgems’
Kieran B
Such a great line
Kieran B
Spot on

Bari is in Italy, Barry is pronounced like the name Barry
Jonroon93
i'd sooner go to Bari than Barry in all fairness
Mark Jephson
I went to Barry last year, ( cheap hotel for Springsteen concert ). Yes it's a bit tired, not posh but you know what I liked it, there are a lot worse places to live. We had to make a trip to the beach and take the picture.
Joe Thornhill
After all your reactions to Only fools. "Fallen off the back of a lorry" means stolen.
Joe Thornhill
I've never understood shorts and a jacket.

Barry isn’t too bad , can’t even compare it to Baltimore no near as rough don’t think anywhere in the UK is as rough as Baltimore, Barry nice coastal town but there’s a lot better places not too far away , Cardiff , Swansea, porthcawl even better , Tenby is where you want to go
SnakeYikes
There's hundreds of seaside towns with beaches exactly like what they show in this episode. The idea of them being rough comes from the fact the towns rapidly declined due to people going on holiday abroad. They are usually quite nice for like 1-2 weeks during the summer, the rest of the time its a bit grim.
Dave Roberts
the song they were singing and you looked bemused was by The Smiths, you may have heard of the singer called Morrisey. The were from Manchester: And if a double-decker bus crashes into us To die by your side Is such a heavenly way to die And if a ten ton truck kills the both of us To die by your side Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine Take me out tonight Take me anywhere, I don't care, I don't care, I don't care And in the darkened underpass I thought, oh God, my chance has come at last But then a strange fear gripped me And I just couldn't ask
Dave Roberts
take a look at this video Brian, about the pubs and bars of Barry, made by a Welshman who's lived all of his life in Barry. He has other videos where he moans about the rubbish around the town, but this one's more a rosy retrospection. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eurkhm04Eyw

I live in billericay I went to porthcawl twice it was terrible like a shanty town couldn’t wait to go home
Mike Currie
Barry. Rhymes with carry.
ThetaSigmaTheOriginal
24:32 "he's the mother of my child." I'm pretty sure that was a blooper and they kept it in. LOL
ThetaSigmaTheOriginal
True. There's a good jimmy the giant video on seaside towns. They used to be some of the most attractive places to visit in Britain. The cheap foreign holidays took away all the money going to those places. And they didn't diversify the investment schemes, and put it all into tourism. And now they're suffering. It's a sad story.
ThetaSigmaTheOriginal
Baltimore's probably rougher than Barry, but I think people are just saying, you wouldn't choose to go somewhere as rough as Barry, for a trip. It's probably just run down (lack of investment etc, like lots of towns in the UK), rather than a mega hot spot for violent city crime. I don't know. I've never been to Wales, let alone Barry, so I am not making any judgement on the town myself.
MJ
He's got to be fucking with us at this point with Barry 🤦♂️
Julian T
Doris singing The Smiths is hilarious. Morrissey has a way with words. My personal favourite: “Some girls are bigger than others, some girls mothers are bigger than other girls mothers”
Patrick Coyle
It does not sound like any of them are saying Bar-E. They are saying Barry. It's pronounced the same in America as it is in Wales. Like Barry Manilow.
Julian T
They should make a new version of The Wire, but set in Barry 😂
Fordy7169
It's The Boomer Entertainment Hub, with a bed and sometimes a dog.
Rob Pontin
The funniest line from the entire show, whatever we don't eat can just go in the bin and you don't even smile
Tim Ward
I live in Barry, there's good and bad spots, the island is a very tired and dull now, needs investment to get more fun activities to bring in more people, you'd probably get bored after an hour. And yes Gavin and Stacey merch is EVERYWHERE
Martyn Dawson
Pronounced the same as the man's name.. Barry.
Hayden
Sorry how did you pronounce “Barry”… 🤣
Rach
"I Didn't have my bag, my tools, my cloak..."

One thing to note with a lot of the British seaside towns e.g blackpool is that they are nothing like they once were as people mostly go abroad for beach holidays (cheaper and better weather). This leaves a lot of boarded up shops and not many jobs, so they might not be that exciting to visit anymore.
electricduckpond
Honestly nowhere in the UK is as bad as Baltimore so you will be fine. Only consideration is that you don't know the good and bad spots, but even then you can ask the locals.
Daniel Davies
Ah, the perfect episode to air on Christmas Day.
Joe Gardiner
Got it, thanks!
Beccy
It's sarcasm after something he posted in the chat..
Jonny Dade
Hey Boomer, what's with the posters? Are you a 40 year old virgin still living with your mum??
Tom Merson
Good timing, I was just looking for something to watch whilst I have a snack
