Migos were more influential to the trap landscape than Travis Scott ever was

Zaphod

TOOL's 10,000 days is (at least Maynard's) most personal record, and their most vulnerable and accessible record (in its totality). Whilst Lateralus and Aenima are impeccable records, 10,000 days is a record of the same caliber.

CDWeirdHeaux

Why do you avoid reviewing Britney's records? Especially her best ones: Blackout, in the zone and oops! I get the sense many music elitists are scared to publicly love her best stuff. What does thou say?

jimmy buzz

question: whats up with the hatred for newer metalcore? i feel like the new knocked loose and loathe records are the best we got recently but i feel like there are many other records in this genre that are worth talking about. are there any newer metalcore records youve enjoyed just didnt do a review of?

Drake Parker

Tyla’s self titled debut album deserved a review. One of the best debuts in recent memory

Josh Miles

I’m surprised and a bit disappointed by the lack of the new Johnny Blue Skies album review (aka Sturgill Simpson). Given the moniker change and Sturgill being the standout artist in country that he is and specifically with this album the direction he took it in, I presumed a review was in order (or at minimum a short review). What happened???

Angus Harley

Testing by ASAP Rocky was a better album than Astroworld when they came out summer 2018 and Testing has aged much better than Astroworld in recent years

Caspa

Are there any albums from this decade you find yourself returning to and if so which ones?

kissbubbly

I kinda mess with this take tbh

Nick

Black Midi splitting up is very unfortunate and one of the biggest blows in rock music (especially in the underground) this decade is a cold take of course. However, it’s ridiculous to see how a lot of people are acting like it’s their fanbase that caused the breakup because of some muppet fans that show up to their live shows and misbehave during the gig. There are all kinds of reasons that could lead them to split up like creative differences, feeling like they’ve accomplished everything they want, financial difficulties and so on. It’ll be interesting to see what the cause was if it’s ever revealed.

S vairaktaris

Clancy is genuinely a good album that is produced really well.

Machine Gun Philly

Genuine take: I have no idea why anyone would willingly listen to Primus. It’s just meme music. It’s basically low-effort trolling with good basslines. Like what’s the point of music that has zero emotional core and/or impact? I’ll never understand it. They have barely 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify and I’m honestly surprised they have even THAT much. Honestly, what’s the point?

Would you ever thought about doing a Masterclass interview-type Patreon thing with musicians. You're already a great interviewer have you ever thought about bringing on industry pros to discuss the ins and outs of the business at large?

Eric Mugford

JID is a better rapper than Eminem

ripplingSun

It seems like we’re in a period of time where everyone’s doing everything half-assed. So many new albums feel like the artists were totally phoning in it (from Taylor Swift, to most rappers, list goes on forever). Even Mellon 1/2 the time in his videos seems almost asleep and barely present. I think post Pandemic maybe we’re all just waiting to die and don’t gaf anymore?

Kyle Cahill

I absolutely cannot stand when artists make songs that have secret songs in them after like 11 minutes of silence. I understand that it's normally used for physical releases but man does it aggravate me to listen to a 24 minute song only to have most of it be nothing all for 3 minutes of a song that isn't all that good anyways. Leave it off the streaming version and leave it as physical exclusive

Filip KaĆșmierczak

Autoamerican is a top 3 Blondie album. The way each song pulls you in a different direction is a feature not a bug (it worked on London Calling and it works here too). Everything they try they manage to pull off, or at least make the attempt charming, like with the eating cars and bars rap verse

Venture

Abortion Money is Kendrick’s best unreleased song and could probably be top 10 in his list.

Ivan cesareo

Hey what do you think of the famous Chilean rock song “Tren Al sur”? I don’t think I’ve ever heard you talk about Los Prisioneros before. Honestly one of my favorite Spanish songs of all time!!!!

EasyBakeCoven

King Gizzard is better at being a metal band than at least 60% of all metal bands within the sub-genre bases they’ve covered.

Saibott

Using a Young Thug verse in a single/album while he's in jail is almost as bad as using posthumous features. Most of his recent features feel like the artists are just scrapping the bottom of the barrel to find a cheap Thug verse to promote their project.

Cameron Edwards

“Prayer” by Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest unreleased songs ever and would be considered one of his best songs even with his stacked discog. The piano backed instrumental provided by the Alchemist and Kendricks amazing story telling speaking from the perspectives of MJ and MLK are extremely touching and beautiful and tie perfectly into his overarching message that “talent doesn’t choose morality”. I would give anything for that track to be on a proper Kendrick album and have it truly receive the credit it deserves.

Tuck

What’s your favorite song under 60 seconds?

Alex Sim

which non-hip hop producer has the most distinctive sound? (my picks: Rudy van Gelder or art-rock-Eno)

Alex Sim

a tier list of the Roots would go craaaazy

Uncle Jam

I care about the mix. You care about the mix. We music nerds care about the mix and are right to do so. However, we've all done a generally terrible job of educating others on what the mix even is, why it's important, and how to distinguish between good and bad mixing, as obvious as that distinction may seem.

Blake Harllee

Lil Jon doesn’t receive the respect he deserves as one of the most influential hip hop artists of the past two decades. Love or hate the change, a lot of modern trap artists wouldn’t be mainstream or as successful as they are without his massive run in the 2000s

Htkkk

This take is for let’s agree

Waffles!

I wish more people made Fantasia-esque movies with all kinds of music. Music videos are still great and can sometimes pull this feel off very well (like Gorillaz for example), but at the same time, I feel like it’s because they put a cinematic edge into their music videos. But hey, at least we’re still getting soundtracks to movies and video games that aren’t just classical. For example, Spiderverse does this and it feels like the songs serve the movies in spades. A Fantasia type movie these days could make any genre sound more epic than it already is!

Andrew Shaktah

patiently waiting for a mashup

MaXXXimof _

Between Death Grips Hacker and Charli's 365, which song had the better ending to close out each amazing album?

Florencio

As far as lopsided albums go, would you generally prefer something front-loaded or with a strong back half?

RandallValentine

Listening to an album once or twice should be enough to form a valid opinion on it. If you force yourself to listen to an album you're on the fence about multiple times, you're going to end up liking it no matter what due to the fact you're constantly familiarising yourself with it. I see this happen in many artist's fandoms: "I'm on my 10th listen, and I'm starting to get it". No, you are forcing yourself to like it.

Trevor Young

Anime openers go hard, but they're pretty one-note, creatively speaking.

EZGames69

People who complain that Twitter has gone to shit should really consider deleting their accounts instead of complaining about it on Twitter. There’s no chance in hell that things will get “better” on the platform even if Musk somehow loses ownership, not that Twitter wasn’t already a shitty and toxic cesspool to begin with.

Noah Shue

Anthony should make the Drake vegan cookies on stream

Yahya Syed

Gonna break up the rap/hip-hop discourse and ask (assuming youve listened to either or in semi-recent times); Louis Cole son or Jacob Collier Daughter?

Paul Prete

Scaring the Hoes is to guys what brat is to girls

John Coffey

More and more people are realizing just how good JID is. It took a little while but now finally he’s seen as one of the top tier rappers by mainstream rap listeners.

Venture

Definitely, thank you!!

David Ukuame

Once Drake, Kendrick, Travis, Tyler along with Eminem and Kanye's generation pass, hip-hop won't have another megastar on their level. Sure there'll still be good hip-hop from guys like JID and Denzel but we won't see rap become a mainstream genre for a while. I might be wrong but as a fan of rap, I don't see any young rapper that can match a Sabrina carpenter or Olivia Rodrigo in terms of popularity

People talk about how the VULTURES series is bad because of Kanye’s antisemitism and the drop in quality of his production, but no one’s talking about how pretty much every song is horny to the point of it being gross. Every track is just Ye and Ty being weird horny dudes and it’s the furthest thing from sexy that I could think of. I know Kanye has a track record of being sex obsessed in his music but I feel like he’s taking it to new extremes here, at least on albums like MBDTF or Yeezus he had other stuff to talk about beyond treating women like objects.

Andrew Shaktah

The Blow-Up-Bad-Takes-Button should be a reoccurring part of Let's Argue. More often than not people will post lesser quality opinions in order to get a reaction or response and calling them out seems appropriate.

Frosty

A Tribe Called Quest - We got it from Here... Thank you 4 Your service, still does not get enough recognition for how great it is. It is easily one of the best 10 rap albums of the last 20 years.

Zach S

I think “we are the world” was so polarizing it turned people off to the idea all together

Venture

Kanye is washed and should retire. Vultures series has proved it and he’s only ruining his near perfect discography.

Kamikaze Sasquatch

If lab grown meat becomes viable on a mass scale then wide-spread ethical cannibalism would be possible.

Htkkk

David Bowie is the Miles Davis of Pop/Rock. Long ass discography yet not perfect. Influenced not only music but also fashion. Always changing styles. Dead

Aidan Mcilhenney

Anthony, I don't believe I've ever heard you talk about Type O Negative. Are you a fan? Would you consider an album like Bloody Kisses or October Rust to be classic? Your thoughts on their music would be nice since so much of the conversation now is about Peter Steele's politics (he seemed like a huge troll a la Frank Zappa, so I can mostly ignore it as far as their music goes).

Herbieguy98

Charity songs are NOT that bad. There's a few exceptions, of course, but most charity songs aren't the level of awful / unlistenable that people make them out to be. They're not amazing but they work perfectly fine as radio hits. And furthermore the mentality surrounding them of 'EVIL RICH CELEBRITIES NEVER ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THE CAUSE IT'S ALWAYS JUST FOR MONEY AND EGO' just seems overly cynical and unrealistic (in my opinion).

Dama Petrichor

The wall by pink floyd is overrated (except comfortably numb)

vvo

I feel like Drake would’ve won the beef if he was Kendrick Lamar

Jesse Amstutz

Given that King Gizz is on track to continue releasing at least ten albums per decade until their apocalyptic subject matter becomes an even more unavoidable reality, at what point will you consider making a KGLW tier list?

Dama Petrichor

Drake can rap but he sounds like crap, especially when he sings. He sound so goofy

Zach S

No rain is an all time jam

Dama Petrichor

If u haven’t yet listened to music on acid, u never really experienced music at its highest peak. Imagine you’re a feeling that exists inside a song (pink floyd) and that’s the only way i know how to describe it

ThatDumbRabbit

The 2011 version of Twin Fantasy is the better version than the 2018. It depicts a much more vivid picture of someone becoming less of themselves until snapping out of it to come back to reality. The 2018 version takes this concepts and ups the theatrical style and manner to an insufferable degree

Dama Petrichor

I judge somebody by the music they put when we get high😭

bressig

what's Melon's opinion on the music of Blind Melon 👹‍🩯🍈

Zach S

The only reason or at least one of the main reasons people still shit on yoko ono is for her contributions to the live performance John had with chuck berry (specifically a video with comedian bill burr’s thoughts on it that people seem to resonate with) which is petty af

BlueZones

Los Campesinos! are one of the most underrated indie rock bands of the new millennium and their music doesn’t get near the amount of appreciation it deserves.
