Rebecca didn’t breathe. Not because she was afraid, but because at that moment—when the tension between Gojo Satoru and Contessa thickened into something barely containable—every breath felt like it might tip the balance.
His head turned slightly, like he was looking at something just beyond the room. The faint amusement in his smile flickered, then vanished entirely.
“Interesting trick,” he said.
Contessa didn't respond, and so he turned to leave again. Despite the interruption, he still had that quiet certainty in his stride, like the world bent to his pace and nothing could hold him longer than he allowed.
Then Contessa spoke.
“I know what happened after your death.”
That stopped him.
Rebecca had always been good at reading people.
Part of it was training, years of practice interpreting emotions based on body language. The other part was power; the way her enhanced perception captured every twitch of a muscle, every shift in weight, every tiny tell. With most people, it gave her an edge, a silent insight into their fear, their pride, their lies.
Gojo Satoru wasn't like most people.
For all that he had a casual air about him, she suspected that it was a mask. Every smile, every shrug, and every bored glance was intentional. He offered her just enough to think she was seeing something real, but never more than what he meant to.
But now…
Now she saw it; the way his hand lingered on the doorframe, fingers curling slightly; and the way his posture, normally loose and effortless, had gone still. Like a man holding his breath.
But he didn’t look back, not yet.
“Excuse me?” he said.
Contessa’s voice remained even. “After you lost to Sukuna.”
Rebecca felt the weight of the words land like stone, and she saw his shoulders pull tight.
He turned slowly. “What did you say?”
Contessa didn’t repeat herself.
“You know what happened?” His voice was low now. Dangerous.
She nodded once.
There was no visible display of fury, no raised voice, and no outburst. But the space around him changed, the pressure shifting in a way that set every nerve in Rebecca’s body on edge.
Even now, even as he stood still, he felt like a bomb waiting to go off.
“Say that again,” Gojo said.
But Rebecca wasn't worried. There were few things in this world that could trouble either her or Contessa, and for all his powers, Gojo wasn't one of them. So she wasn’t surprised when Contessa held her ground.
“I know that your body was cut in half by Sukuna’s world slash. I know that Yuta recovered and used your body to fight him. I know that eventually, even he failed, and Yuji had to steup in his place. And I know that, despite your accomplishment as the strongest sorcerer, your end was… underwhelming.”
Gojo’s voice dropped a note lower as he took a step towards her.
“How?”
“You were a blind spot at first,” Contessa said. “Before you began interacting with capes.”
His fingers twitched, but he remained still.
“What do you mean by blind spot?”
“I saw the shape your absence left, but not you.” She didn't look away from him. “Then piece by piece, action by action, I saw you. And now I can path you.”
Gojo’s face twisted, becoming something she suspected was far more rare: raw anger. And she could see it plainly, like an open book.
“And because of that, you know everything,” he said, voice nearly a whisper. “Why tell me?”
“Because there’s someone out there, more powerful than you, than me, than any cape who’s ever lived.”
A brief pause, then:
“His name is Scion.”
Recognition was apparent in Gojo, despite the tension rolling off him being palpable.
“He’s not human,” Contessa continued. “He’s not even a typical alien, but something else. And in time, very soon, he’ll try to end this every world.”
Rebecca knew what he was thinking; she had gone through that very mix of emotions the first time she was told about Scion and Cauldron’s mission.
“And you want to kill him,” he said. “You. Her.” A nod at Rebecca. “And probably others.”
“Yes,” Contessa said.
“Because you think you can.”
“Because we have to.”
Gojo was quiet again. Because for the first time since he’d entered this room, he wasn’t in control of the conversation. He had always been casually dismissive yet effortlessly dominant. Now he was far from that.
Rebecca watched him: the way he stood; the way his mouth curled in a half-thought; and the thoughts moving behind his blindfold, visible in the tightening of his jaw and the tilt of his head.
He exhaled through his nose, then smiled. But it was thin and focused.
“Alright,” he said. “Let’s talk about how you plan to kill a god.”
And Rebecca knew Contessa had achieved her aim.
But truthfully?
There was never any doubt.

He's already got his eyes on one deceptively powerful Ward. But honestly, Gojo will likely pick a villain to make it a four-man squad like back on Earth. Him, Vista, Taylor, and one other person. I'm open to suggestions
Disorder
Cauldron will benefit in the long term if they accept the reform they desperately need. While Gojo hates it, he knows how to play politics, and when he sees who runs Cauldron, he'll bluntly point out none of them are fit to run it because, like him, they aren't fit for the job. The most important thing Gojo learned about leadership is that not everyone is fit to lead, so best to find someone who can do it. Its why Gojo focused a lot on his students, knowing these guys were the ones that would properly lead jujutsu society. Hmm, let's see if there are any wards that Gojo believes have potential to change/save the world.

I'll prob dedicate a chapter to that conversation. Maybe the next one. Because I was planning on it being another introspective chapter before we go back to fighting

Good chapter. Her shard must have been working overtime trying to path him. I wonder if he'll ask her more about what happened after his death, and if she'll ever mention that the only reason he died is cuz he let his guard down..
