Their expressions as they caught me and Barghest eating of all things juicy. Succulent, and moist watermelon that filled our mouths with its refreshing delicious flavor was something I would adore as Adelith asked me curiously.
"What are you drinking... No eating, holy one?"
While I ignored her calling me holy one... As it was kinda hard to downplay my actions in literally acting as a torch to the Emperor's will. I happily spoke up proudly as I held up a large slice of watermelon with its red flesh gleaming in the light's glare. "The future I say haha! With such crappy conditions, It was hard but I managed to grow more than just crops that require ample amounts of water which is easy enough to find and with all filth and the Geothermal vents nearby it was easy enough to slightly enrich the soil so I am growing an old Terran favorite fruit in Watermelon."
While it was a bit more complicated then Watermelon with its water-greedy nature, I was also growing proper feed crops as well to feed my soldiers more balanced and nutritious meals then just nutrient paste and fucking corpse starch.
Nah, let them eat ultra-thick soups made from potatoes, good mushrooms, carrots, radishes, tomatoes, peppers, and green beans.
At my words, they looked at me in concern and the Canoness asked respectfully. "Holy one... To say nothing of how Watermelon has long been extinct since before the God-Emperor took upon the throne upon Holy Terra. How have you grown such plants in such little time?"
To which I looked at the two and with zero shame at all I said simply. "Science... Science you wouldn't understand in the slightest and would only think it as magic so don't worry about it. Now come have a slice of Holy Terra's history."
Sitting here eating watermelon on a nice rocking chair while I had a tablet/date slate on my lap... It honestly reminded me of my old life as I always even when I lived in an apartment with a tiny concrete pad outside backdoor for yard had a small garden and I would always grow strawberries and some watermelon to snack on.
But Barghest surprisingly picked up the large bowl of watermelon pieces and said strongly. "Nuh-uh! This is Barghest's rations I wanted to share with you boss! They can go get their own! They also need to start eating their vegetables too as well before they can have their fruits!" Barghest rushed out as she looked at the amused faces of the Canoness and Adelith.
I threw out my hands in defeat as I didn't imagine Barghest the sweetheart she typically was would have such a strong sugar tooth so I said. "Adelith why don't you go get some from the quartermaster, also send bring Ecris over. I want to see how she reacts to something."
I then looked over at the Canoness and said. "Would you mind speaking with me, if you are going to act as the leader of your sister's I would like to know your name at least if we are to work together."
While Adelith gave me an incline of her head and left the Canoness actually dropped to a knee making Adelith pause along with making Barghest comically stop mid bit making a loud crunching noise as she bit through the rind of a slice of watermelon making her face twist at its taste.
But her kneeling wasn't the end as she spoke beyond seriously. "No holy one. The Sisters of Battle fight in your lead under your gaze which heralds the one true god's gaze upon our sinful form... My humble name is Katherina Sera, should you have any need of my body to work your fields or water your fields with the blood of the unclean I will happily do so my lord."
I exhaled slowly but quietly as I looked at her form. With her kneeling on a knee and her head down I couldn't see her singular eye beyond her silver hair that was colored that way to honor the founding five sisters of battle who got to meet the Emperor on the throne during Vandire's years of blood.
But I wasn't stupid... I knew zealotry was a double-edged sword with the Sisters of Battle and the other forces of the Imperium who were with the Ecclesiarchy blowing up the most planets in the Imperium in all reality due to how zealous they were in driving out the Xeno, Heretic, and Mutant.
So I needed to make sure I wasn't going to get burned by Katherina as I was rightfully wary of them... And I decided to be plain about my feelings as I said frankly. "Hmm thats a heavy oath but I will have to see your loyalty in the future then."
I saw Katherine's head dip lower before she stilled as a thought seemingly struck her and then as Adelith seemed about to leave to go get the watermelon she almost tripped as Katherine looked up at me and asked bluntly. "Would you trust me if I was enhanced like the other soldiers? To use your inherited knowledge from the Holy Divine Emperor's guidance to ascend my mortal form under your guiding hands?"
Adelith even hesitated as she looked between me and the Canoness and honestly... The super soldier serum didn't give the Guard any particular sense of loyalty to me. Making her into a minature Astartes in power armor was one thing but it was another when she decided to shoot me in the back of the head with a bolter.
But after a moment of thought, I realized there was nothing stopping her from trying even without the super soldier serum. So after a moment of thought, I said slowly. "Adelith has made it clear that other than prosthetics, she and the other sister's wouldn't accept any genetic alterations. What has changed?"
And Katherine with no hesitation replied with a hand to her full bosom covered in power armor. "Because holy one. The genetic alteration comes from the from the God Emperor himself. He who crafted nine demi-gods Primarchs, he who crafted the golden ones in the Custodians... And of course, his lesser but still magnificent work that was his angels in the Astartes."
She put her hands together as though in prayer towards me as she said softly but filled with thick zeal of desire. "To take that step. To become part of his great work after being bathed in his holy light and burning away the filth within myself and an unholy relic..." She shivered with religious ecstasy as she looked upon me with that lone eye filled with a hint of golden light within them as her unconscious prayer was aimed at the Emperor's rosary hanging from my neck.
"I want to be within his light more. I want to be under you hands as you bring me into his gaze and do unto his will through your orders within the mortal world!"
'Yup... She is fucking nuts.' I thought, but honestly... It was kinda hot.

Yeah they basically wiped out the information on the traitor Primarch's lmao. Helps to allow the loyal Astartes who belonged to traitor legions change their names and what not.

Did the Sisters and the imperial faith forget that there were a few more than 9 primarchs? Eh probably a bad idea to remind them that the traitors were also crafted by big Es hand, let alone the purged and forgotten primarchs. Oh it's Hot but man Big E must be shaking his head because after all he did to get rid of religions (other then his Oldest friend the "Ordinary" perpetual who he let still keep his Faith to God) an to not be seen as a God. At least the older Astarte remember his words.

Nice chapter! Zealots are always hard to deal with. On one hand, they can be the most hardworking ally with no self preservation in the name of their faith. On the other, they are usually a few screw loose, and their interpretation of their faith can lead to some heinous shit *cough*Crusade*cough*. I say keep letting the sisters drink from that holy one kool aid bottle, but keep a contingency in case they decided they want a new holy mannequin.
