But it felt all too soon that I was awakened by a loud crashing noise as someone was punching my rented room's door. "Spear Hero! The King has called you and the rest of the heroes for an emergency trial!" A male voice yelled out.
I laid there on the rather shitty bed and groaned. "Fucking dammit Malty." I groaned as I got up and I ignored my other four party members who had to take much longer to wake up and get dressed. As the guards waiting outside my door firmly but politely escorted me straight to the palace not giving me a chance to wait for my party either.
Coming into the throne room, I saw a good couple dozen nobles were already in attendance. All clearly basically ripped from their beds and forced to attend the meeting.
And low and behold there was Malty Melromarc looking pitiful as she leaned on the throne her father was sitting on.
"Why the hell were we called here?" Itsuki grunted out with his normally handsome messy hair looking just bed-ragged as he wasn't even wearing his armor and just clearly in sleeping clothes.
His answer came violently as a half dozen men who had bound Naofumi in chains dragged him across the ground into the throne room. 'It's been a while since I saw this incident... Was he actually covered in chains in canon?' I mused as I raised an eyebrow.
But then I had my own dilemma. Do I actually help Naofumi with this trial? Would me fucking with Naofumi's growth be for the best?
Then as I realized that no helping Naofumi wouldn't be for the best, I still had one very important thought in mind... Being a man myself, living with the stigma of being called someone who forced themselves upon a woman when he hadn't even done it.
I wouldn't put that on another dude, especially a comrade I was going to have to save this world with. As knowing that truth and not doing anything would eat at me to say nothing of how it would fuck with Naofumi should I try to be friends with him later and never stood up for him.
"Shield Hero! You absolute scum, do you plead guilty to your crimes!" Aultcray Melromarc shouted out as the soldiers dropped the chains around Naofumi and pointed spears at him.
And I could see Naofumi wildly looking around obviously freaked the fuck out and confused beyond belief. "I don't understand? What happened!?" Naofumi demanded.
The king took a deep breath as the nobles whispered hushedly in the throne room and Ren, the sword hero muttered to me and Itsuki. "Did he like to steal something from the royal family?"
Even as the king turned to Malty and told her to tell everyone what had happened. I said bluntly and not even bothering to hide my voice as I had made up my mind.
"The king is pulling some bullshit to put us under his thumb by suppressing Naofumi who he personally hates along with being the hero that the Church of Three hero's hates."
I didn't hide my voice and even the king froze as my words carried down the hall to him with my voice carrying through the hall.
"And then he was saying how the night was young and-" Malty herself froze as her reddened crocodile tear-filled eyes met my cold flat gaze.
Knowing this was my time to shine I loudly took a deep breath before releasing it as a deep exhale of utter annoyance.
"Look Malty, I get it. You hate Naofumi for having a divine tool that your own nation hates for a rather stupid reason. But doing this? Your fingernails are pristine, your thighs and shoulders in your adventurer outfit are exposed and you have not even a single bruise nor soreness despite being 'despoiled' throughout the whole night."
I gave the king a dull look and said calmly with my voice going over the nobles loud whispers. "Just exile the Shield Hero to Shieldfreeden or Faubrey if you hate him so much. However, I myself don't want the strongest defender unit against the end of the literal world hating this country because you want to play stupid games."
King Aultcray Melromarc's face turned dark red in utter fury... And I saw his hand clench on his staff which was THE Vassal Staff which in essence was a weaker Legendary Weapon like my own Legendary Spear.
Seeing the king's fury I just shrugged and looked back at Ren and Itsuki. "Well this was a waste of my time... It seems even in another world, one in which we are supposed to be saving we have our own enemies."
With that, I literally just fucking walked towards the end of the hallway before pausing and looking back to Malty and shouting over. "Oh! And you have been demoted to servant in my party now Malty for this game. Lesty can take over your place as my lieutenant as she has the proper breeding and social status at least."
Yes... The Lesty, I spent the whole previous night dogging on for being fucking useless due to her being the treasurer's daughter and being publicly embarrassed would now by my own words and the knowledge of all of Melromarc's nobility... Be better than her.
And then as I left the throne room, I heard footsteps behind me a couple of moments later and I looked back over my shoulder... Honestly expecting soldiers or something. Only to see Naofumi, Ren, and Itsuki jogging to keep up with me.
"Remember what I said about the three hero's church when we first got here Naofumi." I spoke as they got close to me. And Naofumi's face pinched at the reminder and I shrugged before saying calmly.
"If you have any trust for your party members... Which I wouldn't frankly. Either way, you need to leave Melromarc as I bet the king is still going to spread terrible rumors and make dealing with the civilian population hell."
"Did..." Naofumi scowled but it wasn't the hate that he would have had in canon. But he took a deep breath and continued. "Jake, where do you think I should go?"
I considered the question for a moment... And then I said. "Go to Shieldfreedin for the support that you need for now. And later on when, you need more strength go to Faubrey. Either way, you three need to work harder to get stronger as well." I said before I turned away and kept going.

Heh. Next time the moron with the crown does something stupid have Jake call him out on not actually being the King but Queen's Consort and to remember his place. The title 'Hero whose weapon abandoned him' can be used next time after that.

Honestly, I agree that Naofumi probably does need Raftalia, atleast at the start, since he is kinda useless at combat to start. But I don't think he NEEDS Firo, send Jake to get her XD.

GG, Jake offering for Naofumi to go to Faubrey is dooming the world since Takt who is level 350 should already be started on his plan to take over Faubrey.
