Witches won't release me! Chapter 1

But I just shrugged and said with a wry smile. "I dared to fly too close to the sun... I didn't get burnt, but her Tesla hurt when she tried to kill us both by driving off a bridge."
My sponsor face palmed and said. "Dumbass... Just because her insanity made her head game top quality, doesn't mean she is relationship material."
I gave my sponsor a proud look and said without shame. "Worth!"
Making him roll his eyes but smile knowingly as he said. "Hell, I get it. I truly do... I married Kurumi Tokisaki after being dropped into Date A Live after all. Probably got me killed a few dozen times with her timeline nonsense but she was worth it in the end."
We both shared a moment of silence as we indulged in memories of past glories in scoring the goth baddies. And finally my sponsor coughed and said. "Alright! Moving on your reincarnation is due."
To which I held up a hand and asked simply. "Is there waifus?"
"Fucking duh... Why would I send you to a world without any possibility of you getting with a good girl? I am not one of the dicks who sends people to Warhammer after all."
For some reason that comment felt a bit pointed... But I just took a breath and clapped my hands. "So lay it on me! Harry Potter, Metroid, Seraph of the End, DXD, Fate. What am I working with here?"
My sponsor grinned and after a moment said cheerfully. "Release that witch! It will have plenty of waifus for you. And with the tech and magic based cheat I am giving you. You who will be taking over Roland's body will be able to deal with the issues of the world even if you don't get that one witch's inner world cheat."
I tilted my head to the side in consideration and asked. "Whatever happened at the end of Release that Witch? Didn't like Roland make a deal with the queen of demons or whatever and ascend to godhood using that fucking weird inner false world?"
My sponsor shrugged and said calmly. "No fucking clue, I myself kinda lost interest when part of Roland's 'not' harem went and invaded the local middle east equivalent to steal all their oil."
I nodded in understanding as that made sense but my sponsor coughed and said. "Either way! The demons are a bit different in any case as they will by and large be amoral, demonic demons whose mere presence will taint the world, be toxic for humanity and will literally bring gas weapons to taint the land with demonic energy and chemicals to match their own home realm."
"So just kill them all without issue... Though yeah the Church is still going to be the same, as well as your new family you will be inheriting after taking over Roland's new enhanced body!"
I brushed a hand across my face but I knew that taking over Roland's body was by far the best choice. As being a simple peasant was a fucking death sentence and wouldn't allow me to get any resources to say nothing of ordering others around.
"Kinda sucks to lose my name you know. But it's for the best." I muttered to myself before I jolted in place as a purple light shot into my chest and made me shudder as the crafting cheat that carried magi-tech knowledge shot into my soul along with adding some game logic to my existence.
"There, that will also tune you up so you don't die of like... Unclean water and food. Anyway, have fun with the witch girls!" My sponsor said cheerfully and without another word I was sucked into a portal that formed behind me that was obviously going to be sending me to the world of Release that witch.
As much as I would have liked to have pay attention to being shunted between universes and dimensions. My mind was busy being filled with blueprints of massive machines, space travel technology, and energy generation.
And the far more esoteric side when you blended magic and technology together. However, I quickly realized that the magitech technology relied on me gathering already magical materials as I myself didn't have any magical abilities or stores of inner energy.
But then I felt my vision darkening and I realized my body was breaking apart as my soul was getting ready to be shunted off into Roland Wimbledon's body. "Just reincarnated, and my body is already disintegrating... Fucking great." I muttered before relaxing and letting fate take over.
I don't know how long I drifted out in the void between realities but all too soon I was shaken awake as a deep male voice spoke out. "My lord! You have the court trial remember!"
I blinked as foriegn memories slammed into me as I recalled who I was currently. Roland Wimbledon, fourth son of the Kingdom of Greycastle and as I looked at the older man who was the source of the voice who woke me up.
The foreign memories within myself stirred and I realized that it was Barov, and he was the skilled minister of finance who was sent with Roland from the capital to make sure that Roland didn't tank this district.
As the King of the Greycastle Kingdom had the most wonderful idea to see who could become the next king in his declining health and age. He sent all four of his children across the kingdom and put them in charge of certain places.
My oldest brother the first prince was literally in charge of the central district in the capital with him having all the attributes of becoming a great king. The second prince was a cunning conniving little shit who was put in charge of another major district though not as important as the capital obviously.
The third and fourth siblings were sisters with the third eldest being a cowardly but cruel and competent merchant queen who had her fleet of pirates and cutthroats. While my closest in-age sibling was the fourth sister who was literally a Witch herself whose special ability made her a super genius as far as I remembered.
"My lord are you alright?" Barov asked with some concern and I shook my head clear of my idle thoughts as I looked at the thin figure who was standing down the way in but a rough shift and a cloth bag over her head.
The so called 'Witch' who was set to be executed for heresy and using her fel magic to kill people. So I did the best thing I could do right now and just followed canon as I embraced the memories of Roland being a trash waste of a man.
"Pshh! That's a witch, a harbinger of destruction and bearer of the devils power? Put her in the jail cells. I am bored with this nonsense!" I said loudly as I got up from my seat and followed my memories of the small fort that made up the noble's house for the Border Town.
Border Town, that's what this town and my assigned district was called. As it was literally a town slapped down on the very edge of the edge of the very kingdom and earned it's name that way.
I gave the witch set to be hanged a final look before I continued in to the castle and once I reached my office I took a deep breath as I knew all to well that I needed to get my shit in order. As I only had a couple of months before winter came and this was very much a feudal era of time.
So unless I wanted everyone to die of exposure, starvation, and worse... I needed to get my shit together.
"Ok... Roland, I have two major issues right now." I muttered as I got my stuff together and took out a slip of paper to begin writing out my thoughts.
[Hostile neighbors in the Duke house of Longsong and the Longsong Stronghold that has a great many of knights and conscripts.]
[Border Town isn't ready to fight off the Months of Demons. This is where the demonic-influenced animals and other foul creatures roam towards human lands and being we are at the edge of the kingdom, we are a prime target for all the monsters coming down from the northern and western mountains.]
[Traitors within the town serving my siblings, and the various other nobles both in Border Town and the nearby area's.]
I dropped my quill and took in the parchment I wrote on and I grimaced at the realization that I wasted the expensive parchment as I shook my head and then threw the parchment into the nearby fire with a sigh.
Thus for the next hour, I began building a list of solutions and a general plan of technological growth so long as I could get started as I had all the technological growth plans I needed inside my mind.
A couple of hours later the maid Trye who had been sent with me from the capital originally came into the room with a nervous expression. "My lord, Minister Barov has requested to see you about the Witch's trial."
I stood up with a sigh as I nodded and then I clapped the maid on the ass making her yelp before flushing as I inwardly cringed at the memory of how Roland was a perverted asshole and I needed to play at being the playboy for a bit.
Although Tyre was a bit cute with dark hair and being rather petite. There wasn't a day that she served Roland that didn't end with Roland not taking some form of liberty with her.
But... I knew that she was the one who originally orchestrated Roland's death which led to me taking over his body! So I needed to get rid of her as she was Gracia my older sister's spy that was watching me, and she would attempt to kill me again soon.
Minister Barov was already sitting in his office and he looked nervous as all hell with him literally wringing his hands together. "Barov, relax. It's just a peasant girl." I said blandly as I took the seat across from him.
Barov frowned with some of his anxiety passing by as he said with clear concern. "My lord, you don't understand! A witch has powers over the devils own fell powers. To say nothing of the towns people losing faith in you. There is still a large branch of the church in Longsong Stronghold and they could declare you a heretic." He warned me.
I drew a hand across my face as Barov took a deep breath and then continued. "Plus my lord... There is also important news from the patrolling guard, they found a campsite belonging to the Witch Cooperation Association. They even found a coin belonging to their group that has some magic in it!" He finished with a bit of excitement as he pushed a large coin towards me.
I gingerly picked up the coin and I raised an eyebrow as I could feel a heat in the coin that didn't belong in there at all. But beyond the heat itself, I was focused on the craftsmanship that had a large mountain with a large eye above the mountain.
Which was supposed to be the Devil's Eye of the Sacred Mountain. This symbol being the calling card of the Witch Cooperation Association.
I put down the coin and I looked to Barov before I raised an eyebrow and said. "So you think that girl is actually a witch then? And that we need to kill her before she kills or corrupts us?" I asked rhetorically and my minister hurriedly nodded making me shake my head.
Knowing that it was time for me to get moving as I certainly wasn't going to let the girl die as she would be useful to say nothing of being a great woman in general. I stood up from the seat and said.
"Barov, this is nonsense. I won't play into the games of church. Hmph, in fact, I am going to go see how terrible and powerful this witch is right now!"
With that said I left Barov's study with the man audibly cursing as he hurriedly tried to follow as I made my way down to the castle's dungeons.
As soon as we hit the small prison, we were welcomed by the Knight Commander who was also sent to follow Roland/myself from the capital and his name was Carter, and he much like Barov seemed to find all their joy in life being a chatter box.
"My lord, we need to just put this witch to death! She used her witchcraft to burn a man to death with his body being melted and charred like an overused candle that melted across the floor of the mine." Carter nagged at me.
The prison itself was seemingly built like an upside-down cone, the further down we went in the three floors, the smaller the prison went. But the smell got far worse as all the filth and other stuff flowed down to the bottom floor to help torture the worst offenders.
"If she was so fearsome, she would have broken free by now, wouldn't she? And besides she even has a God's Locket of Retribution around her neck right?" I asked sarcastically as I brought up the special mineral that was made into jewelry that would supposedly cancel out the witch's powers.
My servant's/retainers had no rebuttal and frankly, I didn't particularly care for them. Not out of rudeness or just seeing them as below myself. But it was the reality that they served me simply due to my bloodline, and I could be betrayed in this game of thrones at any moment.
We came down to the bottom level and our lit torches brought light to the pitch-dark cell that the witch was in and as our torches brought light to the room Anna was in. I saw her form for the first time truly.
And to say the least, she was a mess. Her form was covered in dirt, her hands and legs were pale and blue from the damp coldness that filled the prison and the potato sacks she was wearing wasn't exactly that flattering.
But still, she stood up. With her hands being bound in chains that went down to her matching bind her ankles and prevented her from reaching up to her neck where the God's Locket of Retribution hung at her neck. "Are you here to kill me now?" She asked softly with her looking at me with dull blue eyes after she came to the edge of the bars.
And without a word I leaned in, as I could feel the tinges of magic in the God's Locket of Retribution hanging from her neck and with a soft clinking noise I snapped the thin chain around her neck making her eyes widen as I took the stone.
"No, I am not here to kill you." I said simply even as I watched as the torches we were holding grew brighter even licks of flame surrounded Anna's form.
"Roland! You, you! How could you take off her God's Locket of Retribution!" Barov shouted and moved directly behind me as I held up the locket with the flames the witch summoned avoiding the anti-magic locket.
"My name is Roland Wimbledon, I am the fourth prince of the Greycastle Kingdom. Name yourself and explain why did you killed that man in the mines with your powers?" I asked bluntly.
The witch took a deep breath as the temperature rose up a bit more... Making it stink worse but it at least it wasn't freezing anymore but she spoke in that same monotone voice of someone who had given up on life.
"My name is Anna, no last name as I am but a commoner my lord. But during the mining collapse, my father was run over by a mining cart. And the man I killed was looting him of his previous day's wages and was going to smash his head in with a rock to silence him."
Anna took a breath and then continued. "My father had everyone swear me to secrecy... Until the very next day where when he could walk with some aid, he reported me to the guards who used that God's Locket of Retribution to capture. Not that I resisted anyway."
"Sold out by your own father huh." I muttered with disgust at the idea.
But Barov added on bluntly. "A true report of a witch will see the reporter given twenty-five Gold Crowns. Which is more than enough to see a single man set for a frugal life."
I shook my head but then I felt Carter pull me back as Anna took a step back with her form glowing with flames so hot that the metal chains and cuffs in but moments turned bright red and literally melted off her body with her calmly walking through the melting bars of the prison.
Anna's clothes likewise burned away from the insane heat of the conjured up flames but she was utterly unaffected by the insane heat... Hell she seemingly didn't have any issues breathing in the probably oxygen depleted air either as the flames faded away from her and her cell.
"So I asked again my lord... Will you be killing me now?" Anna asked quietly as she stood there with her arms at her side.
She wasn't being hostile, she had just given up on life frankly. But I just hummed and said. "And as I said before, you committed no crime in my eyes. I am not the puppet of the church... And frankly, I have use for you and your talents, so no you may not die as I will be hiring you Anna!"

Better than the other one that's for sure but the other story feels like that one episode of Southpark with the giant douche and turd sandwich vote so not that hard to do but again you have too many active stories incomplete and at this rate you never will finish like 99% of your stories because your spread too thin or lost the plot/inspiration.

So I haven't read release that witch it is on my list of stuff to be read but if the Mc is really that much of a slime ball I probably won't read it but this seems intriguing and Jake is usually a great Mc so tftc
