Seems like these days the most common approach is to simply have claws sprout out from under the nails and eventually push them off, which is great for flat out horror but a little gruesome for my taste. Glad you like this approach.

I like the nail polish cracking and flaking off of her claws - that’s a little touch some folks miss.
