Bugs, cats, and other setbacks
🕑 Added 2021-11-22 04:25:43 +0000 UTCHey guys. Sorry to leave you without news for so long, the game is already big enough to need time to thoroughly test with each change. My desire now is to leave everything aside to work on this game, but unfortunately, it's not possible.
Last week my internet was cut off due to lack of payment and I can't access discord at the moment because I can't receive the verification code by sms until I pay the phone bill. So I hope you don't get the impression that I'm neglecting the game's development, on the contrary, if I don't dedicate myself to solving my financial situation I won't be able to continue this project, and thatโs the last thing I want.
(And to make matters worse, my roommate kicked my cat out and she's not the kind of cat to walk around and come home. I'm already trying to get used to the idea that I'll never see her again. I know this sounds off-topic, but it symbolizes my problems at the moment. Actually, I don't know why I'm saying this, I guess I just need to share this with someone. ๐ข)
That said, I decided to change Chloe's look a bit. I wanted her to look like an anime character, but not ugly and in that, I think the previous version failed a lot. With a little work on her face, she got a lot better.
I commented on Discord that I came across a bug in the game's save system, right after Brendon has that moment with Nicole where she ends up calling him Jerk and throwing a pillow at him, if you save and close the game and reload later, the scene where Brendon has a flashback with Sarah doesn't trigger and with this, the game goes into an infinite loop.
Fixing this was easy, but all the old save files become obsolete. This doesn't seem like a problem now at the beginning of the story, but I don't want to force you to start a new save on every update, so I thought I'd restructure the system in a more modular way. This was a pretty drastic change in the way game items are triggered and it took a lot of work to get it right, but I think it was worth it. The files got lighter and the changes even improved the game's performance. Of course, I'll need to reconfigure some things, but in the tests, I ran today everything is working fine.
I feel like maybe I should just rush to get the game to you guys and fix bugs in the next updates, but I want at least most of you to have a bug-free experience. The good thing is that these problems I fix now won't need to be fixed later, and this tends to speed up the delivery of upcoming updates.

I appreciate it, I just hope that no one feels the need to contribute beyond their financial capacity. More money would indeed help me a lot now, we're less than half of the target and even if the cost of living has increased a lot in my country, if the target were reached I would rush to cancel all job interviews and I would be happy to dedicate myself only to the development of the game But what interests me most at the moment is explaining to all of you why I'm taking so long. I made it clear from the start that without a regular job I had no way of figuring out how long development would take, but I never imagined things would get this complicated. I have not received any charges from any of you, this concern is part of my own expectations. Of course, help is always welcome, but make sure you guys are already doing a lot for me. The ball is on my side of the court to deliver this update.
