Vaidas is correct. It's dangerous because you're essentially splitting your chakra between clones and that means less chakra for yourself and your clones. When Naruto makes over 100 clones he has 1/100th of his chakra.

I've read that they are not weaker, only has less chakra, meaning simply less stamina for spamming jutsu, not less strength per se. It's also why it's a forbidden technique, as you don't get that chakra back after the clones are destroyed. So unless you're Naruto with massive chakra reserves, with one jutsu you practically exhaust all your chakra supply.
