SL Development Update 4 - New Character Unveiled Today!

As promised, we are today unveiling our fourth character in our forthcoming release for Sunshine Love (a little earlier than scheduled).
As we have mentioned previously, there will be a variety of different female characters that will feature throughout this new VN.
Therefore, it gives us a better chance of providing a character that might be suited more to your specific tastes, interests, desires, etc
We also mentioned in our post last week that we will reveal a new character each week, up until just before the first version of Sunshine Love is released.
About our new character
The character in the previews below is the female-MC’s "landlady", who we have named “Ashley”.
You will be able to rename her to a name of your choosing when she appears in the game.
So have a good think about the name that you would like to give her ;)
(Feel free to post a name that you might consider for “Ashley” in the comments section.)
She is in her early-40s, and is the previous owner of the hotel B and B that your “childhood friend” now co-owns. Ashley also used to be in a relationship with your father, but they were never married.
A younger version of “Ashley” also features in the early parts of this visual novel, so you will get to see both a younger and older version of her ;)
You will get to learn more about this character very early on in the game, what her strengths and weaknesses are, and how she could aid or maybe even hinder your chances of bringing more business to the hotel.

About your recent donations
As most of you are well aware of by now, we have been raising money for Wildlife Victoria in Australia. Your very kind donations to the Victorian bushfire appeal will be distributed to wildlife shelters and carers, to help rebuild enclosures and equipment that they have lost in the recent Australian bushfires.

We’re still going through them all and we’ll do our very best to include these ideas into this new VN wherever we can.
And if we don’t, then we will consider them for our other current game or any VN’s that we create in the future ;)
SL v0.1 will be released in late-March, with an exact release date to be posted up soon.

I’m going to agree with several others that, in my own personal opinion and tastes, humongous boobs are a big turn-off. One of the reasons I enjoyed Melody, aside from the storyline, is that all the characters had more normal proportions. For my taste, Jade and Izzy were ideal, whereas Melody, Becca and Amy were borderline too big. Again, this is just my personal preference. The internet seems to be full of VNs that feature women with oversized boobs and I’m hoping you don’t follow that trend.

Okay, thank you for your reply! I do trust you guys as developers, and it's nice to see that you have already reasoned around why things are as they are. That's always a good sign. I also assume things will get gradually more clear, to the point where any unclarities and concerns will probably disappear. Either way, it's good that you are taking in all the feedback and listening to your supporters!

In the end, we believe the relationships as set forth, and the hotel plot device will create the best backdrop for the number of different relationships that will be available in this game - and the most important element in the game is dealing with the threads of each relationship, and the resulting tête-à-tête and physicality that comes from those threads.

As for the roommate/landlady trope, we actually won’t be using those terms in the game, and that is a nod to another developer in irony. The Patreon version has the relationships set up organically so that it meshes well with any other version.

I see your concerns. The “hotel business” concept gives two major pluses. First, it gives a reason to draw together a group of people. Think more like “Ocean ‘s 11” or “Ocean’s 8” or “Seven Samurai” etc. how do you get a bunch of disparate characters together into a situation the MC can then interact with? (Yes, I ended in a preposition Lol.) Sexond, this central plot device also provides its own story arc with chronological events tied to the location. In this sense, think of the movie “Holiday Inn”.

I have a concern. Seeing as we have so little information about the game, I am open to this being completely unwarranted, and it is not my intention to criticize the game before it is even released or explained in detail. My concern is based on the, to me, slightly disappointing fact that you are going in the roommate + roommate + landlady direction. I feel this is one of the more stereotypical set-ups in adult games, and all the tropes are all there: having to move back home for some reason, financial issues, the slightly older roommate with bigger “assets”, the slightly younger and very innocent-looking roommate, the MILF landlady etcetera. You see these themes in a number of other VN’s. If you also consider the fact that the whole “turn-around-a-struggling-business” concept was explored in DFD, then all-in-all, it makes me feel a bit like I have already seen it before. I therefore think there is a risk that the game will be bland, as these kinds of relationships and stories have already been given a lot of attention in adult VN’s. It feels like you are going more in a direction of what others are doing, and what is popular on the market right now, rather than doing your own thing. If this scenario is going to work, you have to find your own, unique and fresh approach to it, and so far, there are no indications of that. This makes me concerned that it might be a bit dull and uninteresting. However, as I opened with, I am open to (and hope) that what I am saying is a load of codswallop. I am not intending to criticize, just raise a concern that I had, that you can hopefully use to make sure you don’t go into potential pitfalls. Also, based on your previous games, you clearly know what you are doing, so in that sense, I trust that you will deliver something great. Either way, I wanted to express that feeling that I had gotten so far, even if it might be total rubbish to you developers.

As stated in the post above, there will be a younger version of Ashley in the early stages of the game, and you may be able to see the difference there and then. I've seen renders for both and there's an obvious difference in the look, plus we also tried to keep in mind how Ashley would look against her daughter when she's an adult. When creating Ashley, we had the likes of Kate Beckinsale, Carla Gugino, Elizabeth Banks, Stifler's Mom (haha) in mind - 40+ women whose looks defy their age. Of course, certain tweaks can be made to Ashley if we deem them necessary, and going by your feedback guys. Thanks for the comments, criticisms. We'll see what we can do ;)

Odd choice too me, she looks even younger then Ashley, looks late teens judging from her face... Not ugly, not bad, just not even remotely close to late thirties.. if even half that age.. just one fool's opinion though
