More on the declined charges
🕑 Added 2018-08-02 18:18:52 +0000 UTC I’m not going to play into the rumor mill, so I’ll keep it basic:Basically what is going on is that a lot of pledges are being declined as fraud by your banks. In some cases, peoples’ cards have been temporarily blocked by their own banks because of these fraud alerts. As to why, I am sure we will find out once the Drama Llama has left the building.
If your charge was declined, you may have to contact your bank and let them know that Patreon is not fraud, and to allow the pledges to happen. Or you can try using a different card. Alternatively, you can use PayPal.
Another pothole in the highway to hell that is online content creation.
If you have ended up as one of the unfortunate recipients of this drama, I do much appreciate you going through the effort to stick around!

Mine happened because I added another pledge so the amount slightly increased which they found suspicious. Banks really need more art nerd employees.

Happened to me last month. Bank said that Patreon was a fraudulent charge, ignoring the fact the charge was going through every month prior for over a year.

Yeah mine was declined so I switched my payment method to PayPal and my pledge seems to have gone through. I guess I'll talk to my bank this afternoon.

Yes, they moved what country they are charging from, and it got flagged as fraud. I took care of it on my end...just Patreon threw a curve ball without telling anyone

Luckily my card wasn't declined but from what I've heard from other creators I support is that Patreon changed the way they bill or something and it's screwing with everyone's credit cards.

Evidently they moved their payment processing location (country), which is flagging a ton of credit card companies' fraud detection. It's an easy authorization if your CC company allows you to verify charges by text, but otherwise a huge pain if you have to reach out and contact the company in order to clear the suspected fraud. Patreon dun goofed again.
