Whiskey Wednesday
🕑 Added 2020-10-29 00:17:46 +0000 UTCMy All Hallows' Eve celebration began by picking just the right whiskey for the holiday. The Sexton single malt whiskey won hands down! I have always been intrigued by the skeleton on the bottle and cork. When I looked up what sexton means; a person who looks after a church and churchyard, sometimes acting as a bell-ringer and formerly as a gravedigger, I realized it was perfectly eery for this time of year.
By the light of the candelabra and the Raven watching me closely, I took my glass and slowly sipped, letting it warm my entire body. It tasted so good and I loved how the candlelight made the whiskey look in my glass. I took my time and savored every drop.
Sexton is a nice tasting blend that goes down easy. Maybe too easy 😈 I enjoyed it very much. Created by a female master blender, one of a few in the industry, it is made from 100% Irish malted barley and triple distilled for smoothness in copper pot stills. It is then aged in former Oloroso sherry casks.
This was only the beginning of the evening. Stayed tuned tomorrow for more to come.

Tasting Notes from Master of Malt:
Nose: Rich aromas of nuts, marzipan and dark chocolate with a pinch of spice.
Palate: Dried fruit followed by honeycomb sweetness, apricots, lemon zest, prunes and oak spice.
Finish: Woody on the finish, with honeyed sweetness coming through.
