Tarmandan

I have really high expectations, because he will have Francho with him. I would not be surprised they discover some unknown functions. One possibility could even be that it is a weapon to kill the Slurping One that needed to charge and the whole shrine collection wasn't to starve it out but to stall until the killing blow. And thinking about all the possibilites I realised that our two main characters actually are a lot more similar in a two sides of the same coin thing than I at first thought. Sure, we have the very different upbringings and outlook on life, while having similar goals and motivations - revenge. But their contracts are uncannily similar. Both are inferred to be (once) terribly powerful entities, but what really can be no coincidence is that both their abilities are to change future outcomes. One through brute force systematically trying possibilities, the downside being you might run out of power before finding the optimal solution. The other one changing an outcome in your favour and then changing another one to your detriment. And again while writing this I realised that we already had hints that Fortuna definitely is an absolutely terrifying entity. When Tristan almost got shot his luck made it that the pistol had not been loaded. Either the bullet was magiced away (terrifying reality altering power) OR it already wasn't loaded. In which case either the ability retroactively changed the past or the ability already knew it was going to be used and actually triggered its effect long before Tristan actually used it. Anyways, people probably already commented on it but I tend to only rad the comments during the time when I read the chapter, so I don't actually know :D

Yep yep yep! Every time in Angharad’s POV when the big glowy wonder is mentioned and how necessary the light is for making it through the maze, I got a bad feeling. I thought Tristan might break it accidentally while poking around up there, but on purpose is so much more fun. This is going to fall apart in some very interesting ways, and I can’t wait.

I'm ambivalent around it. On one hand, it shows that Tristan is not some master schemer and relies on his luck a fair bit as well. (Possible that there is some passive luck from his contract with Fortuna as well). On the other, it feels like Tristan is slowly becoming the only one with a plan, and toning down the Intrigue due to it. He feels like an Isekai protagonist who can do no wrong.

Hmmm, I'm not sure I quite enjoy Tristan figuring out who (likely) did it this quickly when both Angharad and Tupoc have not figured it out after investigating for hours, especially since both the info ruling out Tupoc and Yaretzi and the info casting suspicion on Brun he got through coincidence rather than any active action on his own.
