It means that Gwydion was from a family that was *technically* nobility, but they'd fallen so far they were only barely still considered nobility.

Thanks for the book! Anyone know what "A young man from a fallen house that was barely peers" was supposed to mean? I assume it was a typo of some kind

I hope someone publishes a cheat sheet with the circles. I keep getting confused about their nick names/official names/responsibilities

Interesting that the Watch also doesn't know the details of Theogony nor where they moved their operations to. That will definitely come up again.

Asher wanting to retroactively fail everyone because of Tristan is the best part

Damnit Abrascal! You’re a loose cannon who doesn’t play by the rules. But I’ll be fucked if you don’t get results.

I find it amusing (and on point) how Osian has the same lovable smugness that Angharad has, almost like a blinder. When Angie's contract came into discussion, he immediately thought it was her father's fault. In no way could his sister, her mother, be responsible. Completely blind to the alarm bell that he has no clue what his niece's contract is about ... or how dangerous it can be. I wish Tristan's family got a bit more attention, but I suppose the commoner's talisman of unimportance will continue to apply until he gets associated with a few more debacles.

Thanks for the chapter/book. I'm surprised by how normal Osian is (compared to Nerei at least) given all that he's achieved for his niece, I expected him to be some secret powerhouse but in a way it's fitting. I was afraid we'd change POV/main characters for the next book, but with this epilogue and epic flag, I think we'll see them again soon enough. I also like the irony of the foreshadowing, since if trouble does happen during their mission, it would be indirectly due to Tredegar and it wouldn't be Tristan-the-rat that drags the cabal down like Osian fears.

Mad Max

I'm tickled at the thought of Osian worrying about Tristan dragging down Angie, when he should be worrying about how much she would have to do to keep up with him.
