As much as I'd love that, I honestly doubt it -- I feel like seeing chapters from Fortuna's perspective would give away too many long-term mysteries that swirl around her. I could see a chapter from Hooks's perspective, though!

Jacob Shpiece

Actually, thinking more about the rationality (or lack thereof) in the rules of Scholomance, the minimal restrictions placed on student behavior might be a requirement for the 'bet' that is Scholomance to be correctly set up. If the point is for the students to win out against this hostile entity trying to kill them with the deck wholly stacked against them, the Watch giving too many guidelines / restrictions on behavior might spoil the game, and prevent the yearly boons from taking hold.

Alex

Unrelated to chapter, but I hope we get our first Fortuna POV chapter this book.

Pteromys Momonga

The rules of Scholomance aren't necessarily fair (on an ethical/philosophical level) or even necessarily good for their intended purpose, but they're at least consistent in their goal: the Watch is investing a lot in these students and doesn't want to lose them to inter-student conflicts, so they punish anything that actually kills a student or renders them unable to continue their studies. The circumstances don't matter, outside of "they were literally about to kill me if I didn't fight back." So far, that rule seems to have been applied consistently, whatever one may say about whether the rule itself is a good idea.

Aguido Horatio Davis

The rest of the organisation doesn't function this way. If you tried this in, say, Lucierna between Garrison factions inside the fortress one or both would be *broken*. And if you tried this *between* two companies of the watch, even if one of them free and one of them Garrison, the Stripes would step in and fix it. Unfortunately they're not wrong about the Conclave and being perennially unable to elect a CEO, and when something large comes out over the horizon at them this is going to be a nearly fatal weakness. Eventually Song Ren will have to fix that. But I'm not at all sure we'll get to that on screen.

Eden Delima

Highlights of this chapter: Maryam kicking Luvono in the nuts, Ishanvi roasting the independents, Song's sneer and Tupoc Xical being the ultimate little shit of all time. Thank you Erraticerrata!!!!!
