Some of the episodes in earlier seasons were written by the author but he left to do other work mostly his final two books. Sadly heβs stuck with how to end it but hopefully heβll finish it because the ending of the show is not how itβs supposed to happen and a lot of characters that are pivotal to the story were cut out. Characters like Daenerys has aspects that were cut out as well for some reason but wound up not really working in the story when even the actress herself felt disappointed about

White walkers start it off and i guess the people they convert are wights but most people generalize them all as white walkers. Wildlings are just the people who ended up on the wrong side of the wall. The name wildlings i would assume came from their behavior seeing as most act like savages

The white Walkers are what you saw at the begining of the series. They can bring the dead back to life which are called Wights. The Wilding are a groud of free folk that live beyond the wall.
