Naruto would have never done what itachi did. Never....... Naruto would have stood between the clan and village himself, sacrificing his own life if need be. Itachi was ordered to trade lives. This was immoral and wrong. You always have a choice and Itachi was wrong. However, having said that itachis choice was realistic and I can understand his decision even if i dont agree.
GLISH
It literally states in this episode that he acted on it but time ran out I don’t know where you people get this false notion that the 3rd never acted on it lol he did the uchiha just were already in to deep like are we reading and watching the same series lol
GLISH
Wrong Maddison the uchiha clan were literally going to attempt the coup but you guys talked over that part and I was waiting to see if you actually heard it or not but no she’s wrong they did or were going to attempt it that was the whole point of the backstory when madara said they ran out of time the cou was going to happen and itachi knew the date and time that is when he acted on his mission you don’t perform a mission lol it’s his after the uchiha clan is already battle ready lol that defeated the whole purpose
Kautuk Nag
I think Itachi smiled because he thought atleast there is someone who will look after Sasuke

Spoiler Alert I do have a thought though, the problem was with the leadership of the village right? Normal people of the village have never shown to discriminate against the Uchiha, they always seem to glorify the Uchiha clan. The discrimination thing started with this storyline here. At the end of the day, the Uchiha were the most powerful clan of the village but never given power and Uchiha seems like craved power in their arrogance from the start, maybe that's why the leadership of the village started discriminating against them from the 1st and 2nd hokage's time. So Madara himself sowed the seeds at the start. Uchiha thought themselves as different to the other leaf and labeled other clans under the Senju. So both sides are wrong, the Uchiha as well as the government. 2nd hokage did his racist or whatever shit but Uchiha also seemed like they always wanted power. If they wanted someone from the Uchiha to be hokage they could have trained and be in service to the village in a much better way. After all, no one from the Uchiha was the strongest ninja/most well known ninja during the village time so how will an Uchiha become hokage. If the clan thinks of themselves as superior and be more absorbed amongst themselves then obviously any leadership(and other clans also) will think these guys are selfish and in it for themselves(like Itachi implied in the flashbacks for Uchiha it was all about the clan and never about the village) The 2nd never liked the Uchiha but maybe he was so discriminating because Madara became rogue and did all that shit. He even tried to get the Uchiha to leave. Obviously the Uchiha didn't leave but Madara did influence them heavily(he started these turn of events). If he didn't leave(and fight for power) and was in service to the village maybe the Uchiha would have never gotten influenced that way and 2nd hokage would have never discriminated against them. But I guess since the start of the Uchiha, they have just been wrapped up in hate(due to black Zetsu also)

A side note because the show doesn't fully explain, and you also need to do research on it: the Chakra virus Itachi had. It became prominent in the 3rd great ninja war and was very feared and contagious, the leaf had been working on a vaccine for the Virus all throughout the events of the manga/anime and several prominent characters like Itachi have suffered from this virus.

I've never heard of this idea before, but I it's a great idea! It would have given the Uchiha a vital seat of power and recognition of the clan within the village, which would have quenched fires of rebellion. He was also a great candidate being Hokage level both physically and mentally.
LegendarySuperSaiyan
Yaa baris already seen it and madi doesnt read comments

Thus begins sasuke's villain arc
Troinell
This is why I'll always say Sasuke didn't kill itachi, itachi killed himself 😂😂
Vegeta
Itachi's smile when confronted by Naruto was more because he sees that Naruto is indeed a legitimate surrogate brother to Sasuke so even if Itachi were to die Sasuke would still have someone around that cares for him that much.
Ogre328
Man what an episode. Itachi is the GOAT for sure.
Jeff .
Oh god madara what have you done
Trey
Wait did yall not see his mangekeyo?😭😭😂
J Richards
Exactly what I thought watching this when it was airing. I feel like he didn't know what the hell to do Sasuke character after this. All he know he have to make a plotline to have a second Naruto and Sasuke fight for fan service in my opinion. It became more evident to me when I saw how Sasuke character became so flip floppy more the show went on.
J Richards
I feel like the best solution was to make Itachi the hokage. I know the counselors and Danzo probably wouldn't approve but I feel like that would had solved a lot of the inner turmoil between the Uchiha and history of the segregation against them in the leaf. Itachi already have the skills and the wisdom to become hokage at his age probably more than Garra. I feel like he could found a solution to make the Uchiha clan feel integrated into the villages without making them feel like castaways. Plus I don't think they would carry out the coup d'etat if it was there own clan member was hokage.
CYBRLFT
Yuuup I'm surprised Madison didn't predict this hehe. But she has been really captured by the story so I'm glad this surprised her.
CYBRLFT
chill pill lol
CYBRLFT
Yeah his mangekyo awakened from the death of his brother and its a pretty sick design.
CYBRLFT
she doesn't read the comments.
CYBRLFT
Yeah this is common with how good stories evolve. Writes have a general idea where they want the bigger story to go, but in a very real way characters tend to evolve and develop almost autonomously from the writer. Or to say another way, the writer doesn't always have the full plan, and the characters and plots sort of evolve and develop on their own with the writer just telling their story. That's been my own experience as a writer.
CYBRLFT
Yeah the glow up is about to be real lol.
CYBRLFT
I'm wondering if you guys saw his Mangekyo at the end. But yeah, it was to avoid this very outcome that Itachi did not want Madara revealing the truth. Itachi knew Madara would take advantage of Sasuke in this moment to shape him as a weapon against the Leaf to further his goals. Itachi wanted to prevent this, but unfortunately this ultimate irony sends Sasuke in the opposite direction to eradicate the edlers and village for what they did. He's a loose cannon with killer resolve to accomplish goals and Madara stepped in to direct this cannon at the perfect, vulnerable moment. Also, Itachi's smile to Naruto was more of the "Good, Sasuke will be in good hands" thought than Naruto being clueless haha.
Nando
nah yours was the weird reply. they saying what they might do in that situation and u basically saying they wouldn’t? 😭. the point was itachi obviously loved his lover too yet still made his decision so that’s not impossible.
Arnulfo Rabago
Y’all didnt notice Sasukes nee mangekyou.
Ninja4christ117
The reveal of Itachi loving Sasake all along has to be one of the biggest plot twists in fiction.
Jason
Sasuke didn’t kill him, sickness killed Itachi -Kishimoto
C. J. Ramirez
Yeah even tho itachi was sick i still think he could have killed saskue if he really wanted too during that fight
DomzTunes
Weird reply. Both of your points don’t make any sense.
Nando
i mean sure but i feel like he always had it as an option. sasukes first proper flashbacks of itachi show the scene of him saying he’d been in his life even if hes an obstacle for sasuke and thats what brothers are for. which fits in nicely to the reveal tbh
Nando
baris seen the show and madison doesnt read comments
Nando
true but itachi was also made to kill his ENTIRE clan not just the leaders so i guess he had that same mindset
Nando
okay? itachi liked his lover very much too lmao which is why he put her in a genjutsu and made her death feel like her dream fantasy. tryna doubt what they’d do just because u wouldn’t💀
Nando
true and im all for him going after the leaders but I understand why he wanted to kill everyone since itachi was made to kill everyone. It’s just frustrating to see after being proved revenge was not the answer through itachi death reveal, he decides to get more revenge and although realistic you dont have to agree with it.
Gage Smith
Damn I want more lol
Baris Tee
WOW!! Can't believe I missed that. Not only was it hard to see with the sunlight in his face, but the typical sharingan activation audio wasn't there. I also think the anticipation of what he was going to say completely took our minds off the fact that his eyes are different!!
Ubergamer
Kakashi warned Sasuke about this but nothing could've stopped him
NARIOUS DIXON
True. It sucks that it came down to choosing the lesser of two evils I guess.
Bryan Sibaja
Maybe the Third Hokage had the best idea but he never acted on it, he didn’t make a move and he failed itachi, due to his “incompetence” he left Itachi with only 2 possible options support his clan and put everyone in the leaf in jeopardy since there was a high chance of a World War to begin or he could chose to kill his clan ultimately protecting more lives, protecting the good name of the clan cause if they had been successful with their clan they would have gone down in history as traitors, and also he saved Sasukes live, no one knows if the leaf could defeat the entire clan in a civil war or if sasuke would’ve had to live a life running and hiding as a traitor or if he would’ve died. In my opinion Itachi simply choose the only 2 options that he was presented and he choose the “greater good” he was a child and the adults left him no other choose because the failed everyone by not acting accordingly since the beginning.
Brett Knox
Itachi and Sasuke's battle was one giant training session. They got a chance to practice clones, shuriken, fire style, and their sharingan. As for what Itachi did for the village, he will always be the 🐐. But I would not go that far for a village that persecuted my clan. Itachi wanted his brother to live, but as a younger brother, I sure as heck wouldn't want my brother making that kind of sacrifice. I'll go down with my clan that was forced into performing such radical acts. I completely understand Sasuke wanting to destroy the Leaf. Let's not forget. Just because the leaders enacted this plan, the villagers shared the same sentiment, or else they would've stuck up for the clan when they were being persecuted.
*Veem*
After the filler, we enter the best arc in the entire show, daresay Naruto series!
NARIOUS DIXON
The third hokages idea was the best way to go about settling the issue. Mass genocide should never be a good answer. The phrase "for the greater good" has been said more by villains than heroes.
Muff420
I think itachi wanted Sasuke to meet him with the same eyes....so he could take itachi's .when he starts to lose his light ....itachi thinking way head
Alex Ucles
It was only baris. Madison seems to have understood it lol
NARIOUS DIXON
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that way. Also, I always found it hard to believe that Sasuke was the only Uchiha who wasn't apart of the betrayal. He was the only child in the clan at the time. No one else was innocent!!!
William Pahau
Probably trauma , being young and stupid , the path of revenge doesnt end well like kakashi said theres orher reasons why he chose what he did but those are some to name a few
LegendarySuperSaiyan
Most people would do anything for their loved ones even sacrifice the world if need be. However thats what makes Itachi goated. Hes willing to sacrifice his loved ones for the greater good. Rip to the goat and the epitome of what it means to be a "Shinobi".
Marcos Kevin Roblero
To make it even more sad (it was more sad to me) originally instead of itachi saying “forgive me sasuke but this is it” in the manga I think itachi said “sorry sasuke but there won’t be a next time” cuz he always said to young sasuke maybe some other time. I’ve also seen “sorry sasuke. This is the last time” all of them are sad tho lol
Marcos Kevin Roblero
Delete your comment bro they don’t know who that is
Marcos Kevin Roblero
Nah I agree with sasuke. The village knew itachi loved the village and abused that knowledge. Because of the village sasuke killed the person he adored. Yea the uchiha were planning the coup but why the hell did danzo have so much power? Danzo literally segregated the uchiha and made their damn military do their police work instead of the actual police. Danzo is the hidden leaf they allowed him to be a leader of theirs
Marcos Kevin Roblero
It sometimes bothers me when people say sasuke has no reason to want to destroy the leaf all because itachi wanted the opposite. Okay true itachi wanted the leaf protected but unfortunately their leaders abused itachi’s love for the village and made him kill off his own clan. Sasuke was made to think his brother was evil and want to kill him even tho they both held great love for each other. Why wouldn’t sasuke want to destroy the village he just accidentally killed off the last person he loved
Marcos Kevin Roblero
Bro what are you going on about.
Corey Greening
You guys didn't notice sasukes Mangekyo
Eddy
This is why Itachi is a hero and Sasuke a BITCH! SASUKE IS JUST A CRYING BITCH , IF SASUKE HAD THE SAME LIFE AS ITACHI HE WOULD HAVE DESTROY BOTH THE VILLAGE AND THE CLAN 😂😂😂 ITACHI IS A HERO!. Ps. Sasuke is going against Itachi wishes making pointless what he did 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️😂
TW
For all the insanity happening this arc, we definitely have to skip the upcoming filler, and go right into the next arc. The poop hits the fan and were all here for it.
Diego Hill
Noe that you guys are here. I want o ask. Do you guys understand Sasukes way of thinking? His brother who lived his life as sweet person was used by the very same village he tried so hard to protect. Sasuke also was lied to his entire life and his feelings got all messed up in the process. Can you imagine what you’d feel if this happened to your siblings? To me… this is one of if not the most impactful truths in the history of anime.
Jonny
Man multiple strong characters in Naruto just seemingly had some strange illnesses. Shin, Sai's brother, Itachi, Kimimaro. They all had that same coughing up blood disease
Eric
No one gonna mention Sasuke's new eyes revealed at the end? My boys ready.
DomzTunes
Yea I didn’t understand that interpretation (I glossed over it initially until I saw this post too lol).
DomzTunes
Naruto’s writing is really finicky. Itachi’s story was good but could have been way better and Sasuke coming to that conclusion should have been explored more.
DomzTunes
I highly doubt you two would choose Itachi’s path. Itachi killed his lover by the way (and you two seem to like each other too much lol) With that being said, I am definitely NOT betraying my family. F out of here lmao.
KJiggidy
I can see and understand Sasuke’s case but I don’t agree with it. His plans to destroy the Hidden Leaf where other innocent villagers that wasn’t involved will end up being his targets and that’s wrong. Not to mention Naruto, his team, the other teams like Shikamaru and the gang, they had nothing to do with all that so they aren’t just gonna let Sasuke and his team pull up and destroy the leaf. That’s just gonna cause war and it will be exactly Itachi didn’t want Sasuke to do. Like bro, just go after Danzo and the elders, they are the ones responsible.
Dee
We about to see killer bee give sauske that ass whooping
Thunder
Yeah, it wasn’t more about Naruto being ignorant, but more about how happy Itachi was to see somebody else other than him to look after Sasuke. He knows that when he dies, he can leave Sasuke in Naruto’s hand.
Randy Mukadi
Keep up the great reactions🔥

Where did you find this info?

Itachi is GOATED
Citrusblurz
Even though it's never specified what exactly caused Itachi to be terminally ill, my headcanon has always been that it was due to enduring long term stress, which can in fact bring about things such as heart failure. When you consider the heavy burden the guy had to bear, it just makes too much sense that it was quite literally killing him from the inside.
Naruto Uzumaki
Just to be clear Kishimoto wasn't thinking this far ahead from part 1 lol. He didn't know what to do with sasuke's character after itachi died so this was the plot line he picked. He had to find a way to keep the parallel of Naruto and Sasuke
progolfer34
Definitely a top 3 favorite episode of mine. . . . . .One of the best introductions between 2 of the central characters. And without a doubt favorite character in Itachi. . . . Although I'm probably very biased being a big brother to my only sibling brother.. . . . And now this is most likely my favorite reaction or yours so far. Love the post discussion thoughts and looking forward to the podcast!
Naru Kunn
Yeah all I’ll say is don’t take Naruto lightly at this point lol
Helder Romero
OMG JUST WAIT FOR THE REST!!!
Heathclyff
Fun fact: Crispin Freeman, Itachi's VA, says the first time he was given a breakdown of Itachi's character, he knew that Itachi loved his brother even before the manga revealed it. He probably did a great job in the role because he saw through Itachi's illusions. Also, "hebi "means "snake," and "taka" means "hawk," because now Sasuke is free from the burden he shouldered and Orochimaru the snake.
Alex Ucles
The smile itachi gave to Naruto was because he was happy to hear sasuke has a comrade who cares about sasuke as much as himself
