Tbf, the only reason Deidara gives him as much trouble as he does is due to the fact that Sasuke wanted him alive for intel on Itachi. It's revealed towards the end that he saw through all of Deidara's moves. He avoids hitting any vital spots or using any high caliber ninjutsu in general throughout the whole fight and mainly just goes on the defensive.

What want to know, is does anyone else in the village know the specifics of Naruto and Sasuke's fight at the end of part one? Sasuke tried to hit Naruto in the chest with Chidori and was he only survived because Naruto deflected the hit just enough AND he hit Naruto with a piledriver to end all piledrivers off a damn mountain. If Naruto didn't have the ninetails heal his broken neck he would have been dead AF. I imagine most if not all(maybe not Sakura) would be completely against bringing Sasuke back if they knew the details.
