This is one of my favorite episodes hands down! Super emotional and different from anything Naruto has done up to this point and seeing Naruto have to overcome hatred instead of physical training just adds so much depth to his character! Not just like other goku or strong guy speed running strength or see bad guy, train and fight but no depth.

I been suffering from depression for a long time, watching this episode had help me understand what I have to do, and is basically what Naruto did in this episode, the anger and pain is too much, but I have to accept that part of me or let it to continue destroying me, thank you for helping me realize this.

Baris to your point, the waterfall not only forced him to overcome his past adversity and accept it, but it forces you/one to face the darkness within you, as you said. Similar to some of the seven deadly sins: envy, pride, vanity, and stuff. Naruto had to overcome his HATRED. That’s always been his downfall and key for the nine tails to emerge. Which is why everyone is cautious around Nine Tails as a mass of hatred, the real Naruto is gone (the hatred in his heart), and this is touched on when we get to 8 tails back story too. It’s more the topic of hatred than accepting the past, in my opinion

That's the trick to becoming a perfect jinchuriki. Naruto need not run from his past, but accept it and move on. He accepted that the hardships in his life were necessary in order to shape him into the person he is now.

This type of training Naruto is about to undertake with Killer B is the final stretch he needs to become a true jinchuriki and a shinobi powerful enough to stand up to Madara and Sasuke.
