But the promotional art of Season 3 shows characters from Arc 6 too (There are 2 posters besides the teaser)

you heard wrong its only arc 5 also it wont be some weird ep amount like 36 50 etc likely going to be average 24

About season 3, I've heard that they want to adapt arcs 5 and 6 from the novels. That is very ambitious, given how long these two arcs are, they would need at least 40 episodes to adapt both arcs without screwing it up. I haven't read the novels, but the community says that Arc 5 is very fast-paced with a lot of action and Arc 6 the best arc overall, so my expectations are pretty high. As long as the studio can adapt them well to the anime, it's probably going to be a lot better than both season 1 and 2. Also, from Arc 4 (sanctuary) and arc 5 there is a whole-year time skip, it would be nice if we get to see Subaru maturing.
