Micropod #8 - Day & Weekes 1
🕑 Added 2019-09-29 04:35:53 +0000 UTCIt turns out that I want to keep telling stories! So let me tell you all, to the best of my ability, the story of Day & Weekes. If you're unfamiliar with this story, go on ahead and listen to episode #2 or check out the #dayweekes channel on the Discord.
Alternatively, you can just jump right on in to this episode, no explanation needed. Apologies for some of the bad audio--I had to re-record quite a bit of this.
Next Up: The Calypso Part 2. The Wardroom, A Sword Fight, and the beginnings of a friendship.

Ahhh! Thanks so much for the message, Patricia. I mean, Horatio Hornblower was really a dreamboat in that series, pun intended. I'll be putting out more Day & Weekes soon!
I adore this. I heard about this story from my bff (who bought me #Hockey for Christmas and tickets to the Winter Classic for my birthday), and this is why I’ve subscribed. Normal girls had a crush on Zac Efron in high school; we had crushes on the cast of A&E’s Horatio Hornblower and wished that it was much gayer.

Oh my goodness, you're so kind. Thank you for going through the trouble! More D&W should be on its way!
Yes! I have been waiting for Day & Weekes content since I read that outline doc you made years ago. I am already enamored to these characters and can't wait for more. I made a patreon just so I could listen to this and leave this comment.

😔 Hopefully this will tide ya over!

Thank you for reading!! (You might already be a fan of the temeraire then??)
This is exactly what I need to soothe my “check please is ending” woes!!!
Oh, I love this! The Napoleonic Wars But With Magic is my favorite extremely niche genre anyway, and I really like both the characters (Day's introduction in particular was great). And the "brought to you by" bit made me grin. Can't wait to hear more!

ZEE, hello, THANK YOU SO MUCH I am in fact desperate for comments so I appreciate yours! 😭 Yes, when Tom and Weekes meet for the first time (again) it's very much one of my favorite tropes...."wait you were the guy" "oh no YOU'RE THE GUY" "i can't believe YOU'RE THE GUY" I can't wait to share the next episode!!

Cydney....thank you so much for your comment!! Hahah I'm glad parts of this "amazed" you, because oh my gosh I've been a nervous wreck posting these. @_@ Thank you so much and I hope you continue to care about Tom and Weekes!
I finally got to listen (I’ve been saving this to savor) and I can’t stop grinning. I literally had to pause halfway through when they’ve just met (again) on the deck of the Calypso and even though I knew it was coming: I squeaked! I’m not sure words can express how very excited I am about this project. You asked for feedback and here is mine Thank YOU! For taking the time to share this story, for doing it in this medium so I can listen while Being A Productive Adult and thoroughly enjoying myself. I got interested when you first shared some of the story/drawings a while ago and it made my whole week (and month, and then some) when I saw you are podcasting it! Can’t wait to check out the next episode, too. Thank you so much!
*Just* found the time to listen to this and I amazed (but also not, because your storytelling has been top-notch throughout all of Check, Please! and the various platforms you use to build that world) at how invested I am in these characters and this world already.

Ahh! Thank you so much!
Love this! Can’t wait to hear more.

AH! Well, welcome!! I hope you enjoy. 🙏
I just listened to this and subscribed at the $3 level just so I could listen to the rest of it. I'm so curious to see how this story turns out!

Aw hey! Thanks for the follow! Hahah Naomi Novik and I were both super inspired by the Patrick O'Brian series, so yes I believe Temeraire counts as naval historical (alternate historical!) fiction!

I just subscribed to your patreon purely to learn more about Day and Weekes! Ive been on a naval stories kick lately and this fits right in. Does Temeraire count as a naval story? I feel like it does...
Ngozi
Ah! Thank you so much for listening. 🙏 Bringing things to live with just words is pretty difficult for me, so I'm glad the story is leaping out!

I love this! You tell the story very well. The characters, the background, the scenes, really come to life through your descriptions. I am looking forward to hearing more!
