New Graphic Novel Pencils &...Fanart
🕑 Added 2021-04-21 18:30:19 +0000 UTCAs the title suggests, that's life right now. I'm waking up, drawing as many pages of this graphic novel as I can muster, then cranking out fanart, and then going to sleep. In between many other things.
A LOT of the pages are up on the Discord server (#project-yesenia), and i'm averaging about 7 or 8 pages a week??? But I'll share my most recent, favorite page.
- So much of this comic is about blackness and perception of self, and then a huge portion of it is just about teenagers being dorks in fandom.
- I LOVE BGBB, the fictional kpop band that Chi-Chi, Yesenia, and Esther are obsessed with. It's actually very difficult coming up with outfits and concepts for 4 fabulous pop stars, but I'm trying!
- After drawing this page, I want to work into the comic more instances of Chi-Chi and Flip are wearing masks of each other's faces. Weirdly reminiscent of Maus.
Also, if you're not following me on Twitter or Tumblr, then you might have missed the fact that I've gotten into The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. I like to cruise around fandoms.
After spending weeks learning how to draw a young Mark Hamill and Pedro Pascal (because, you know) I'm kind of...really into...studying faces now?? I definitely want to get better at likenesses! My method is sitting with my sketchbook and cranking out a few dozen sketches to learn a person's features, and when I start to feel comfortable, I'll practice different expressions and then I'll attempt to translate everything into my style.
