[drawing] Twinkle long bugs
🕑 Added 2024-12-05 11:15:51 +0000 UTC**** Sleeper shark is not related to this topic, but it is an idea I want to draw this winter if possible. It is so cold these days that I just want to stay in my fluffy blanket.
I'm thinking of drawing another one that's a series with the Twinkle twinkle little bugs I drew a while ago.
I thought the title would be Twinkle worms or Twinkle twinkle long bugs.
I don't know which title would be more appropriate. The word 'worm' in English only includes earthworms and flatworms? I think you guys can tell me 💕

Did you know that planarians exist not only in freshwater but also on land?
Some species of land planarians are considered invasive species and seem to be causing problems. Unlike freshwater planarians, they are large and are almost the strongest in the soil ecosystem. They are natural enemies of earthworms... I find their appearance fascinating 🤩
I am not sure exactly where their eyespots are. Wiki say they have multiple eyes but I don't know where when I saw the photo 😅 Hmm.. I might not draw the eyes at all. Or I might draw them in a location that looks familiar to people, lol. Like how I sometimes put faces on jellyfish.
I sketched a millipede and a centipede a few years ago..

I have to work hard to finish it so that my friend will like it :) Yes, I think I've seen the phrase "shrimp is bugs" many times. Now I know it's a meme!

Worms don't have a hard exoskeleton. They're soft, so they're worms more than bugs. Bugs have exoskeletons. Spiders are called bugs even though they aren't insects. People online like to joke that shrimp are bugs too ("shrimps is bugs" is a meme you can google). I have a friend that loves centipedes. I'm excited to show them the finished art when it's done. 🥰

so whether slugs and snails are included is really a matter of individual belief, though I would say most people probably include them as bugs?

the trouble with bugs is that it refers to Hemiptera in a technical sense but is also used to mean minibeasts in a general sense and can be stretched to even include things like crayfish! it's a really confusing word!

Oh, that makes sense. So worms are included in bugs. It seems like word 'bugs' include more animals than I thought. Snails and slugs are also include bugs?

Hahaha thank you. Actually, I was really scared of house centipedes too. - But as I draw and look at more reference photos, I feel like my fear is fading away over time.

it makes sense much sense for all the long bugs to be worms but sadly in english they are not. I love velvet worms and milipedes a lot so these long friends make ne happy!

I think twinkle twinkle long bugs sounds super cute c: and yeah millipedes and centipedes wouldn't be worms in English so long bugs is more accurate too. I'm super excited for this I love millipedes c:
