🕑 Added 2020-02-10 21:29:18 +0000 UTCOn the 31st of January, Eden told me the cancer she had been fighting for a year had advanced to terminal. On that day we talked for just a bit and I drew her a couple of things at her request. I received the last messages from her on Sunday February 2nd in the middle of the night while I was asleep. I replied upon waking up but did not hear back from her all of last week.
Today I found out she passed away on February 6th, on the same day I sent her one last message hoping I'd get to talk to her one more time.
We met just a bit under 5 years ago. One day after I'd read a very old and quite incredible unfinished komubak fic, I made a joking post on my blog wondering if it would be weird to track down the writer. A few days after that, she popped up in my inbox saying she liked my recent Bak drawings, and not long after that I found out she was the writer of the mentioned fic. We talked nearly every day since then.
The past 2 years I was saving up to apply for an Australian visa and go visit her. We'd postponed the plans for me to visit last year due to news of the cancer. I had hoped I would meet her in person this year.
Talking with her was always the highlight of my day. She made me laugh like no other person ever has. She was one of the most important people in my life. I loved her dearly.

I was planning to work through the grief this month, but in the end I don't think I'll be able to get much of anything done so I'll be pausing my Patreon again. I'll make another post with the details on what this entails for the month of February.
