🕑 Added 2022-07-21 21:51:21 +0000 UTCI feel like Pixie sometimes when I'm reading a book. Like "yeah, we get it author/writer; you know lots of words." But it kinda defeats the whole point of comunication if you have to reference a dictionary every sentence just to understand what someone is saying gosh darnit!!!

My son has an excellent vocabulary because we always spoke with him as an adult...understanding of course that we would have to define/explain things frequently. I think the trick is to react to the questions in a way that makes it clear they are expected, normal, and welcome, and to moderate how frequently definitions and clarification are needed.

Some people have an expansive vocabulary due to being voracious readers 🤷🏻♀️ Though personally I try not to use any crazy words unless someone's being an arse and assuming I'm stupid.
