ehh, it's addressing survivors guilt, a pretty regular issue for veterans like Brutus, showing he benefits from Pixie's optimism and innocence just as much as pixie benefits from his wisdom and maturity. It's a bit dark, but it's a real issue, and not a bad thing to bring up.
