Another way you might write it: "Commander, I really felt the need to discuss... something..." It keeps the same structure and is a bit more conversationally natural. Putting a pause between discuss... and something... could seem coy or playful. You could also go with a direct Mass Effect reference and say something like, "Commander, it's time for you to slap some omni-gel on me."

Nah I just made it up, thanks for the suggestion anyway, what lines of dialogue would've been more correct?

I did know, I was trying to be friendly and helpful. Your English is still better than many native speakers and Mass Effect does have some dialogue issues, so I thought it was possible it could have been an actual Mass Effect quote.
