I think it's more the risk of slight resentment. The public had a pretty poor opinion of bankers after the recession even if not all of them are guilty. Tripling his wealth against the homelessness and woes of most Americans probably wouldn't leave a positive impression besides how clever he was so foresee it. After the paparazzi thing there are probably many in the media circles who are eager to knock MC down a peg even if it's just "Here's how much Bas Rhys made this year!" And implying he's a rich asshole in the tabloids. It's not exactly a scandal but they can focus the financial outrage on him

The American public may not care but it's not the case everywhere else. Controversies in finance can be a big scandal in other countries. I'm not sure about shorting the housing market in the U.S is something people outside the the U.S would be up in arms about but it could still be used to paint him in a negative light. Especially if someone in the media is looking for something against him since his personal life is mostly clean.

Why would Bas get bad PR for shorting the housing market when the people that caused it received no punishment whatsoever? The American public eventually didn't even care either. It might not be a positive view, but I don't think it will damage his career.

Not sure how much charity helps with PR for people that rich, but it's pretty common to put a % of earnings towards it annually. And for financial reasons create and sponsor a new charity themselves helps him avoid taxes while getting benefits. What type of charity would MC be interested in?

Perhaps baz can create a charity foundation to get better PR after harry potter. Maybe emma can join him, that sounds like somthing she whould love. It is also a way for baz and emma to keep contact after potter.

I've really enjoyed the character so far but going into adulthood it's inevitable he'll rub some the wrong way like Jonah. Maybe not all because of his own actions but I could still see his flippant personality being taken the wrong way when he's an adult. Either people will be pulled in by his charm or be slightly put off. I'd be interested to see where this goes with relationships going forward like with Emma, who in the POV with Cadbury was frustrated when he refused to be serious until forced to. I hope he still gets the interesting projects in the end like limitless or Christopher Nolan stuff even if it doesn't come as easily as before. There should probably be more competition or just situations where another actor suddenly shows an interest and can swoop in and steal a role he had in the bag. He's still not as established as some after all. Maybe a few more years to claw his way into a lead role for a huge production where he doesn't have a finger in its production. It'd be nice if he faced some PR issues that's not contrived, like for shorting the housing market. He could probably play it off alright but still it'd stain his image a bit if such a thing came out. Maybe some rivals holds onto such info for a rainy day at awards season?

I’m happy with the progress made in IoTV since I first started reading this story. With the story reaching a point where the protagonist has entered the final months of HP, you can finally see the impending fear and uncertainty of entering adulthood. While he has a financial safety net set up, further progress in his career will require growing beyond the person he has been thus far. He now has to face a future that will not go completely according to his plans and will now have to face the judgments and rejections that other adult actors have to face constantly. Prior to the last couple of chapters, I was under the impression that Bas had his future set in stone and that his career would more or less proceed according to a set plan. While that would have been entertaining, it wouldn’t be very realistic to have everything go as predicted even with future knowledge. Situations like what happened in 50.5 where things went wrong quickly not because of the protagonist’s action or malicious intent but through the actions of people in the general vicinity adds the spice of variety into this story. Thank you for the 100 chapters and I feel confident in continuing to providing a small contribution for your fantastic writing.
