u might be right, but they did claim so in an interview that all the details and plot twists in s4 were planned b4 s1 came out so who knows, just stated what the directors said

doubt, very clearly a plot line smacked together not a consistent thing. S4 feels especially fresh and unplanned.

In regards to what Jen was asking about planning seasons, the Duffer brothers said in an interview that Netflix required a 25 page document detailing the mythology of the stranger things world and everything that would happen in s2, s3, especially season 4 (no spoilers) but yes, it did also rely on the success of s1.
