How Should Episodes of Hades Be Handled?
🕑 Added 2020-12-02 19:34:27 +0000 UTCI've finally started my playthrough of Hades, and the game proposes a bit of a conundrum. It's a rogue-lite, where you go on runs, and it often feels like I should present each run in its entirety, all at once. The issue is that Hades is not a quick and snappy rogue-lite, so the runs can go on for well over an hour. I can't really blitz through this game with hour-long daily episodes, as this isn't in the RPG slot (and I'll be quite busy there soon with Cyberpunk 2077).
So I see two options for getting through the game while maintaining the normal workload:
1) Cut the recordings into 30 minute episodes, like I always do. There will be a video every day, like normal, but they'll abruptly end in the middle of a run, and the next episode will start mid-run.
2) Leave each run intact, so that you can see it from beginning to end in one video. I will then skip a number of days as if the videos had been split in to parts. If the video is 30 minutes long, then there will be a video tomorrow. If it's 60 minutes long I will skip one day, if it's 90 minutes long I will skip two days, and so on.
The playthrough will take about the same amount of time on the calendar regardless of which option you choose. The question is basically, do you want the content to be delivered chopped up but consistent, or intact but scattered?

I like the idea of chopping into regular episodes, personally. Creates some mystery, creates tension, as another user said it doesn't spoil how successful a run will or won't be. You might end episode 14 going great and then die five minutes into episode 15. On the flipside, a run looking bad in episode 21 might surprisingly keep running into 22, 23, 24 miraculously. It also relieves pressure on how you experience the safe zone social stuff, you don't have to feel rushed.
I like to watch your episodes daily and having extra long episodes I think will disrupt that as I can't just watch for hours and hours. I prefer smaller bits and pieces.

Personally speaking, chopping it into regular episodes also retains the mystery of how long any particular run lasted. So I am certainly in favour of that.

Hmm, question: the typical Hades gameplay loop (for people who care about the narrative, not just the combat parts) is not run, die, run, die, there's plenty to do between escape attempts. So where would the cut-off point / starting point for complete episode videos be? Edit: I'll be watching regardless, I've been inhaling A LOT of Hades content and I'm still not tired of it. (also played a looooot of hours myself). Not sure how to vote, tho, hence the question
perhaps it is just me and i know, more videos= more money, but i just search you when i wanna watch something (now it was the room vr). Yes i love your videos, have watched hundreds hours, thats why i support you :)

Hades is actually pretty quick once you get the hang of it, speaking of personal experience. I don't know how much is slowed down by commentary, especially on the lore heavy sections, but as for "runs" they run me on average 25-30 minutes to go from first room to final boss

The length of time per runs varies a lot from very short fails to long full campaign runs so in the long run it might be hard to shorten some episodes to 30 mins but honestly even tho I picked one of the two options I would just vote for creator preference given the option.
and yes i could igore videos i dont like but my subscriprion would be full of you videos, you know?
okey so, the only reason why im not sub to you is that you make too much videos :D... i know sounds stupid, but i would rather watch 1h every other day than 30min videos every day, i think you talked about this on your q&a at one point.
