I usually do both layers of lineart before colors, but I wanted to it this way after seeing Cawie's Chiori speedpaint.
The gradient maps I use change from drawing to drawing, depending on the mood I want to set.
The exact order of how I do things isn't as linear as it appears here, it's actually quite messy back and forth, this process is more of a layer breakdown with the same vague order of events rather than a full timeline.

The second gradient map, yes, over every layer alongside the paper/canvas textures The first gradient map goes right over the grayscale shading, below the overlay colors.

I’ve been meaning to try and colour over cleaned sketch rather than line first and see if that changes my output, and I also need to play around more with gradient maps lol. This is really inspiring. The gradient map, you applied it over the whole group of layers, yes?
