As for the hair, another fan wrote about this on page 132. For us men, we sometimes get disappointed when a woman changes up. We are like, wait, hold on now, this isn't what attracted me to you! What if the hair color is something he really does not like, then the chemistry could go away. That was the chance Emily and some women in general I guess are willing to take. Butt, hair, in this instance (pun intended) is okay. We got a chance to read her thought process which men in reality sometimes don't catch. She dressed to really impress. This is suitable hair dye and attire for an office lady on a date.

I appreciate what you are saying here - I disagree myself, I think she's excited and she wanted to dress up well... but she's not rich, she can't do too much. The hair symbolises her own change from frustration to being able to do what she's always wanted... and her 'arc' has sooooooo far to go, trust me.
