2024 November 7th - Version 1s - EA decided to add a trait limit at some point for changing traits through the interaction cheats or re-trait potion, and more than 3 would not work correctly if you started adjusting them in those menus. We fixed it so it should now work correctly when using those menus.
2024 October 26th - Version 1r updates the mod for Patch 1.110, and has had a visual change which will fix Pet icons being weird. Remember to only download ONE version!
2024 July 26th - Version 1q updates the mod for Patch 1.108. Remember to only download ONE version!
2024 March 11th - Version 1p fixes the bug where aging up from Teen to Young Adult only showed three trait sots. Remember to only download ONE version!

2023 March 17th - Fully updated now! Remember to only download ONE version! Also remember that you should NOT be using ChingyuOptionsCompatible if you are NOT using their MoreTraitsMod_Options file. If you don't know what that mod is, that means you should grab the regular version of our mod.
Delete the previous TUNINGONLY file, it is not needed anymore. Clear your avatarcache and localthumbcache before launching your game with the new version, tutorial.
Notes:
- With EA's new "Discoverable Traits" system with the Growing Together patch, YA+ sims can technically have up to 8 traits (5 CAS traits + 3 from Discovery). The game will prompt you about adding them, so you can reject them if you'd like.
- Infants remain at 1 trait.
Have you ever wished your sims could have more than three traits? Perhaps there simply wasn't enough room for all of your desired ones and the limitations of the base game forced you to narrow it down to three again, leaving you conflicted at the menu.
Introducing More Traits in CAS! (And now impacts lots!)
Now your sims can have up to five different traits with absolute ease, giving your sims the possibility to have more depth and personality than before. With this mod, your sim can be a loner, clumsy, a dog lover and vegetarian! Never again will you have to watch your supposedly vegetarian sim happily eat a hamburger again just so he could be a music lover instead. The combinations are endless, at least if you don't do the math on that!
Together with adult sims, all other ages (except infant) have additional trait slots now too:
Elder: 5 traits
Adult: 5 traits
Young Adult: 5 traits
Teens: 4 traits
Children: 3 traits
Toddlers: 2 traits
Yes, you read right. Your toddlers can now be fussy and clingy. Isn't that great? Infants will remain at 1 trait though, due to their already chaotic nature and it fits with how the other ages go down by 1.
Lots can now have 5 lot traits as well (this is due to an unfixable EA change that connects CAS slots to Lot slots).
Other things to consider:
Base game compatible.
Your game version must match the UI version you download unless an update was not necessary (which we mention on our status post). You cannot use new files on old games and vice versa, just like any other mod.
You do not need to fill all 5 trait slots if you do not want to. Sims can exist with just one trait (this is a regular game feature).
Does not fill the other trait slots for existing sims unless they age up or are manually changed.

Pet trait slots have not been changed yet as they weren’t cooperating when testing.
Recommended mods: LittleRedSonja's Improved Observant Trait mod will allow sims with the Observant trait to learn everything about a sim, including the extra traits you would add with our mod. You can read their description for more info.

~ Flerb's addon_Flerb_more_traits.package from the Automatic Sunburns V10a mod

~ Chingyu's MoreTraitsMod_Options file if you aren't using the compatible version.
~ Age Matters by SotaruSims
Does not conflict with these other UI mods such as UI Cheats, More Columns in CAS, wrench overrides, TOOL etc. Will be compatible with all other regular mods.
Compatible version attached to work with Chingyu1023's MoreTraitsMod_Options for Sims and/or Pets. If you use one of their files that gives sims less traits, the extras simply disappear when you go in-game. If you download a file that allows more traits, you add the extras in-game as usual with their mod. Note that this version is only required if you are using Chingyu1023’s MoreTraitsMod_Options mod and would like more customization, otherwise download the regular file. Do NOT download both versions, choose one.

The chingyu_AddTraitsMenu and 100 Base Game Traits (and all other mods) have nothing to do with More Traits in CAS and do not require the compatible version.
How do I use More Traits in CAS?
Using this mod is very simple as it merely extends the trait bar in CAS by one or two hexagons depending on the age, and lets you select extra traits for your sim. To use this mod on an existing sim or household, simply edit them using the cas.fulleditmode cheat, MCCC, or Chingyu1023’s AddTraitsMenu.
Is uninstalling the mod okay?
Yes. If you remove the mod, the extra traits disappear from your sim, but this won't cause any issues.
Why does the first part of CAS and CAS Stories still show three traits?
This is only a visual bug. It won't impact the traits you can pick for your sim.
Is this mod compatible with custom traits?
Yes, it is! However, old custom traits made or updated before Snowy Escape were broken by an EA update back then, so you'll need to get an update by the creator.
Am I able to change the number of traits?
Yes, if you're using the version compatible with Chingyu1023's mod and have both installed, you are able to add more than the maximum amount of traits in-game through their menus. These will, however, not be displayed in CAS.
How do I install?
Installation is easy; choose ONE file only, then simply drop the downloaded file into your mods folder.
Are there older versions available?
If for some reason you have not updated yet and want a previous patch version, you can find old versions here. Please do not ask for support when using older versions.
⚠️ 📣 Why do the extra traits not stay after exiting CAS? 📣 ⚠️
This is because:
1) You have a conflict, please check the above for a list.
2) You installed the ChingyuOptionsCompatible version but do not have the required files!
That second reason is the most common issue that we hear about. Please do not download that file if you are not using the MoreTraitsMod_Options file from this mod. When in doubt download the regular version, do not download the compatible.
⛔ The chingyu_AddTraitsMenu, 100 Base Game Traits, etc. have nothing to do with More Traits in CAS and do not require the compatible version. Please only download the compatible version IF you are using a MoreTraitsMod_Options file from this mod.⛔

If you check the top of that BE does it say "Detection Type: ALL UI mods".? That means it could have been anything (even the game itself), as BE will list every UI mod installed when it can't determine what caused the issue. Hi, I've been using this mod no problem and then all of a sudden it stopped working? I get the notification saying things are missing in CAS and when I open it up, I only have the three showing even when making a new Sim. It started after I updated Better Build Buy so I thought that was the problem but the problem still consisted even after taking it out to check.

Expansion isn't released yet and neither is the related patch, so there's no way to tell until that patch arrives. For future reference you can always check the latest mod news on the front page via the "Mod Status for Patch #" posts. It's been fixed for a while. Please delete your old files and download the newest update, clear your localthumbcache and avatarcache (tutorial: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/delete-cache-files/). If still experiencing issues, you have a different UI mod causing issues or are on an outdated game version. Not sure if you missed my previous message but I explained it in your previous post, "Detection Type: ALL UI Mods" means it can't figure what the cause is and is likely an EA error or regular mod (like traits) you encountered, as again it is working fine in our game with no errors. Make sure to clear your avatarcache and localthumbcache if you don't regularly as those files can hold old info, and make sure your regular trait mods are fully updated and working. That still sounds like a conflict, so you will need to 50/50. Be aware that there might be other mods we haven't checked yet that can conflict, like possibly the new Dark Mode mod.

The mod is constantly in my folder when I load the game and I do not get BEs from it, so it sounds like BE can't figure out the issue from an EA error (which it does encounter too) and is listing all the UI mods you have, which if this is the only one then that is the only one that will show. The detection type is called "Detection Type: ALL UI Mods".

i cant get the trait slots to show up, like i still have 3 for adults. i have the regular version bc i dont have the more traits mod. am i missing a step? the file is in the mods folder. and i dont have any of the conflicting mods or files.

Be aware that if BE can't figure out what is causing a UI issue, it lists ALL the UI mods you have, which if this is the only one it will be the only one in the list. The detection type is called "Detection Type: ALL UI Mods" Also be aware that it catches EA UI errors too and will result in the same message. Since I have BE in my game as well and we have not received other reports, so it's very likely an EA error you are getting and can be ignored.

Clear your localthumbcache and avatarcache (https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/delete-cache-files/), make sure there are no older versions of the mod in your folder, and check that your other UI mods like CC wrenches or UI cheats are updated.

They edit the same file, so likely whichever is first in your folder is blocking the other from properly working. If you've been using More Traits without issues, then likely the disappearing features would be on More Clubs side, probably in a section of the UI you just haven't noticed yet.

for some odd reason my extra traits aren't staying on my sims i spent some time updating most my households just for the traits to be removed after leaving the game and getting back on (edit* just realized i downloaded the 2nd file and not the first one maybe thats my issue)

Mod was already updated right after the patch, FYI, and a new one for different issues has just been published. When checking for updates/statuses, always check our newest post as it will list what's broken/needing updates. And then when mods are updated we list them in the same status post, while also updating the original post with the updates, which is described at the top of the post under "Updates". If you are still experiencing visual issues, take out your wrench mod, check for old versions, and clear your localthumbcache and avatarcache.

Hi! The mod is causing a glitch in CAS where all the question marks are replaced by the Preferences icon. Also, the Aspiration Categories tooltip has a glitch on its background.

I've discovered that this mod conflicts with Sotaru's AgeMatters, even with only those two mods. The traits are able to be added via CAS, but once reloading the extra traits are gone. I have read the conflicts and I did install the correct one without Chingyu's compatibility, as I do not have their MoreTraits mod.

It is More Columns, All Scenarios, Color Sliders, and...think that's it so far? causing the CAS bugs, but not More Traits in CAS, and it also has no effect on orientation so that's likely something else in your game. Please remember to take out ALL mods after patch days unless they have been cleared or updated, and clear your localthumbcache and avatarcache when adding/removing mods.

i think this or the more columns mod are messing wiht the new update for sexual orientation as i cant use it and those two are the only cas mods i have installed excluding cc however cc does not impact gameplay unless its build cc and i'm talking abt cas cc. it also has broken ui, but i can still use it as i could before the update EDIT: its a miuxture of both lol, ui was more columns, this mod is probably the reason i cant use sexual orientation EDIT2: removed this mod, still cant use it lol

I suspect this mod might be the culprit behind the fact that my werewolves have more temperaments than they should be able to have. It seems that increasing the number of trait slots also increases the number of temperaments werewolves can have.

Hello! Just wanted to let you know that the More Traits mod has stopped working for me. I tried reinstalling it incase I had an older version and tried it in my game with no other mods installed but it is still not working and only shows the three normal trait slots. Don't know if anyone else has reported this issue but thought I would let you know!

for example, toddlers only keep one trait because that is the one that ea coded for them. so when I choose another trait for them it doesn't add it onto it.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that this mod is currently not working with the new update. Whenever I go into CAS, the trait slots are there and so are the traits I chose to put in them but as soon as I leave CAS, the only traits that stay are the amount that are automatically designated to every age group in the Sims 4.
