Ash losing this League was massively controversial and heated back in the day. Ash losing Leagues wasn’t anything new and was normal, but this was huge because never had he made it that far before, making it to the finals for the first time. Loads of people felt like Ash should’ve won. Ironic, both Ash and Serena were runner ups in their respective things but felt robbed. Also, the League feels like it’s setting up for the next arc, the real climax of XY.
