It might have been a little clearer in the Manga, but Gojo killed Geto after the Battle in JJK 0. Like killed killed. And then between JJK0 and JJK Season 1 (ever since Geto had that scar on his forehead), he was taken over by the brain guy. Brain Guy was fortunate that Gojo did not "destroy" Getos body, otherwise he would not have been able to use it.
