Asher Tail

Oh okay thank you so much! And all the drawing/coloring is with Grease Pencil in Blender?

AwArdiente

Well, unless you are interested in practicing your 3D modeling skills, I'd advise downloading a rigged character. There are lots of free options out there that can do the job. Something like this would suffice: https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/3d-character-meshes-rigged-base-1382197 You can also make a character with primitives like spheres, boxes and cylinders and make a quick rig with them. But there are so many free rigged characters for Blender (just put these last 5 words on Google and you'll find a lot of good resources) that I'd go with them first and then see how it suits your process. In the case of these shots, for example, we bought some base meshes from Blendermarket.com, modified them and used a plugin named Auto-Rig Pro to rig them quickly. This was mostly to save us some time for drawing but any humanoid rig can help if you use your imagination.

Asher Tail

Oh thank you so much for the detailed reply! :D Do you have any tips on making fast 3D models for this purpose?

AwArdiente

Mostly yes! When dealing with a general shots with lots of moving parts we start with a rough 3D animation in order to get a preview of the general rhythm, perspective of forms and movement. After that we take the main poses (key poses) of that animation and draw on top of them. We take special care of these drawing since they will influence the rest of the frames. After this it's mostly back and forth between 2D and 3D polishing each as the process dictates. Sometimes it's more convenient to solve the breakdowns and in-betweens in the 2D drawings directly and sometimes we go back to 3D to solve them there and come back with a more solid base. There are exceptions, like 1.7 in which there was no 3D used but there was still a 2D blocking using spheres and cubes drawn and move around for the same purposes before going to the final key drawings. This help us make sure that the drawing serve the movement of the whole shot from the very start.

Asher Tail

Oh do you guys do the 3D model and animation first then draw on top of them and add in betweens? Thanks!

AwArdiente

Seems like it was! Glad you linking it, Igris!

AwArdiente

We are back to normal it seems! Thanks, Ghostman!

AwArdiente

All good now, Asher, thank you very much! Hope the BKs help!

AwArdiente

Gotta show those back side goodies ;3

AwArdiente

Shit! That's terrible! Hope it doesn't happen again. Luckily it looks like it's all back to normal. Coincidentally we were having very hot days too and we were told that somehow it had to do with the problems. Anyways back to business and glad you liked those slapping bawls ;3

AwArdiente

Thank you, Midnight! It's a relief to read comments like that :3 Don't wanna keep you all out in the blue for long

AwArdiente

This one will mostly have a face paint but there are lot's of cream pies cummin' for Kim ;3

Igris

As always this is looking insanely good! Hope you guys have that problem solved asap 🀞

ghostman

I love these behind the scenes looks. Hoping your power situation stabilizes!

Asher Tail

Ah hope everything is okay! Also thanks for the breakdowns! <3 looking incredible so far

ZeroTheHusky

That bull is hot! Love the tail animation and being able to see his hole too 😍

Hope you guys are doing well. Glad you guys are safe. Power outages suck. Had one last year around this time, and it was unseasonably hot. Lost hundreds of dollars worth of food because of how long it took for the power to come back on (23 days). I hope and pray it doesn’t take that long for you. πŸ₯Ί On a more positive note, that sack-to-chin action: mmmm. πŸ˜˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜©

M1DNIGHT_WOLF
