Technically you could say bigger = slower rendering from one perspective.. The closer a surface is to the camera the slower it renders. Close-up shots render slower than full-body shots.

Nah it doesn't necessarily impact rendering times.. Other things like resolution, shadow quality, reflections, polygon density and other texture things impact rendering speed.
