Hey folks, let's do an art update!
I've mostly been working on scenes which can be slid in sideways without making too much of an impact on the main storyline. It's the kind of stuff which you can miss by accident or by choice. As much as I like going a bit more niche with scenes, these take up quite some time to create so it's not something we can do a lot of normally. Since I already finished a bunch of scenes early during Rob's troubles I have a bit more time to "mess about" with extras this time though.
One of them is a twink scene! No worries, we'll make it very clear what you'll possibly be getting yourself into when we add that particular scene to the game. You might wonder why we'd possibly want to add something like that now in book 4. Mostly because I wanted to add something really unique which we hadn't done before... and I felt like trolling at the time.
When I originally I suggested the idea to Rob he had some doubts about including it. So I told him: "okay if you think it's gonna alienate people we won't". However! When I mentioned this in an art asset update we got quite a few people (some more passionate than others) who tried to persuade us to come back on that decision.
That kinda surprised me. My original idea to include it was more of a trollish joke. Of course with some warnings, but still... Anyway, Rob has seen the light and told me he was okay with adding it if I still wanted to. So yeah! Working on that and a few other "missables".
I've also been wasting a lot of time on a scene which had me constantly doubting whether I should finish it or not. I simply didn't like how it looked. It's right on the edge of "I'm gonna thrash this and work on something else" and "I can still salvage this!". Sometimes it dipped to the right only to veer back to the left a moment later. That went on for pretty much ever and now that it's mostly finished I still don't like it and decided to not use it ... until perhaps I'll look at it again in an hour...
Like I said it was a constant yay/nay in my head while working on it and pretty much drained me during the days while I was working on it.
I friggin HATE having to bail on scenes which I've already put a lot of time and work in. I simply don't have the time to have too many duds so it's important to know during the sketch stage whether a scene has potential or not. But when a scene doesn't work.. it doesn't work and needs to be taken out behind the shed. Or in our case probably added to an art asset update.
I had already started working on a completely different scene with a different character (but still partly inspired by the dud) to get a fresh perspective and the new scene is one where I don't have this constant second guessing myself. In fact I like it quite a lot! This new scene wouldn't exist without the yay/nay-scene so at least it had some sort of positive result in a roundabout way.

As I was writing this update I decided to clean up some folders(deleting obsolete files) first and found an alternative idea to an already finished scene(which you guys haven't seen yet).
It's barely a week old but I still managed to forget about this particular idea... and with a few changes. I can add my "crappy yay/nay scene" as an extra option to the already existing scene, but make it better looking! Fucking Awesome! I've been doing some quick testing and this'll work out pretty nice! In fact it solves another problem which I thought would be impossible to avoid! I can already feel myself getting in a better mood because of it and wanting to jump right back in! But first I'm going to finish this update.
I've also taken apart my keyboard(and put it back together) to disable a key. Yep, I said disable not repair. The keyboard in question is old as balls and has a power button which I accidentally pushed recently while I hadn't saved my work in a while.
Fun part is I hadn't actually let go of the key yet when I realized my mistake, which means the pc hadn't registered it. I wasn't really sure whether I would get an "are you certain" message or not if I'd let go of it and thus pondered what the best course of action was.
And as I sat there trying to think what to do I figured I could disconnect the cable to the pc, let go of the button and safely plug it back in again afterwards and that worked as expected.
After that little adventure I decided my keyboard doesn't need a "power" button and thus I got a screwdriver and proceeded to open it up. It turns out there's all these "suction cups" within flying all over the place when I lifted the cover. I had already wondered why there were this many screws in the back of the keyboard...
Anyway, the power button is gone now so that particular problem won't happen again.
Btw. I do have spare keyboards lying around, but the one I use has a slightly different and unique layout which I'm used to and prefer.
Not much else interesting which I can mention has happened these couple of weeks. I'm just trying to make the new scenes interesting and fix them up as quickly as I can, hoping there's a chance Rob can work some of them in if things go smoothly on his side. There's still a bunch of touch-up needed and the devil is always in the details.

I dont really get people whining about the gayish scene it was heavily hinted it would happen. They didnt even show any male parst of the other guy. It was running joke in the series that you couldt tell these bro and sis abart.

I think keeping it optional would be great have I no problem with it and making it an optional choice can mean players can go back and see the difference that and the scenario is pretty funny

Book 2, because Ty Lee's scene was the point of no return for me. It's still one of the hottest in my book and it opened a whole new world to me because it made me watch the series to learn more about the characters and the story. Turned out it's one of, if not the best anime series out there. Now I can't get enough of all the girls drawn by MITY, don't even dare to choose a favorite.

This is absolutely meant as a super rare addition. With Eska/Desna looking the way they do this seemed like the one and only opportunity in which we could. Btw. always nice to hear from someone who knows us from way back!

Book2, Mainly because of the ember island part during the love route. I just really enjoy it for some reason... Maybe it's because of the twins ; )

think of the niche scenes more as a little extra here and there (they might not even find their way in the upcoming build yet) The new build will fix some of the things we couldn't last time.

I took the opportunity to clean my keyboard a bit before taking the photo. It had collected quite the bit of dirt as well. If it wasn't for Eska/Desna being twins and girly I honestly would never even have considered adding a twink scene. But with them I think it can be done this late into the game and at least sorta feel organic.

I'm very partial to Toph myself. It's the reason why I've slowly come to adopt her as my avatar during these art updates.

bruh, i don't care if you want to add an optional gay scene or two, but if you make a habit of using up space in your very rare updates to put that in the game, you totally will alienate a good number of your supporters. friendly advice. what i might suggest, is doing it like that one scene, where you had an option whether that one guard in lake laogai had a dick or not. that way, people wouldn't have to just miss a scene out of that update. or whatever, i just want content updates that i can enjoy and I don't like boys, but i DO love this game, i've been following it since before you finished book one.

I honestly don't mind as long as it stays optional and you make it clear what's going to happen. Personally I'm not a fan but if others want that then go ahead. Just don't try to trick anyone into gay scenes because you shouldn't force players into scenes that they're uncomfortable with. I know that's not what your doing but keep refraining from tricking players into those scenes because if that happens you may actually start to alienate people. Like with the Appa scene in Book 3 you did a good job of making it optional.
Honestly, the last update had exactly 1 scene for me (with Pema, actually) and given what happened there that wasn’t a great experience, especially for how much effort I as a player had to put in just to get past the island itself. I generally don’t have an issue with time being spent on optional content but, I’m really hoping to have something to look forward to this time around and would be disappointed if the more “mundane” options that actually interested me were all closed down (as they are with virtually all content on the island itself) because time was spent on other optional niche content that had zero value to me as a player. Particularly since it means I as a player then lose any interest in that entire section of content and am just speeding through it, working against a minigame that’s requires a lot of effort on my part with negative payoff after negative payoff. It’d really suck to have two such sections back to back.

Can totally relate, same thing happened when I opened my keyboard for the first time. Only it was way dirtier than yours. As always loved the Toph cartoon, you have great talent creating those, they always make me smile/laughing. Not a fan of trap content but with Eska/Desna I don't mind and I'm always for diversity.

Well, I can understand the position of people who feel this will take the place of something else which they'd possible like better, but if you always aim for the largest common factor among players you probably end up with something very mundane.

Concerning pulling keys, I figured doing it more carefully by opening it up was the safer way. Especially since I wouldn't know where to get a replacement with the same layout Adding a gay scene is there to add some unique flavor(and to be a dick to anyone who just blindly speeds through all of the text : ) But no worries the girl/girl side of things will not be overlooked in the upcoming update.

If you don't mind your keyboard looking like junk, a regular old key puller (from any cheap PC maintenance kit) will work. I usually yank the caps lock key from my keyboards, simply because I hit it by accident about 500 times for every time I use it on purpose. Adding gay content to the game doesn't do anything for me; normally I'd be annoyed because that's time that could be spent on something I do like, but it sounds like in your current situation you have some time to burn so I suppose it's a good time to go engage the penis-lover market. Personally, I'd be a lot happier if you were adding girl/girl art content, which the game is generally pretty short of.

Absolutely no problem with more diversity in the "action". With yay or nay scenes i could suggest using a poll functions to tiered patrons (your choice from which tier up ofcourse) to get a read on the public opinion. Regarding the animation quality, i personally love the increase as it really shows how you and Rob grown as the game develops. Love your work and proud to support it.

I still vote for a better way to make money in book 4. The coins are super time consuming for only like 35 or 40 and the sports one isn't every day. If a third option like patrol for Lin was put in then it would make it easier and we can focus on the story more since making money isn't fun when you need to do it a lot. Just a thought. Not asking you to take out the others and it would fit the story a bit too.

I'm surprised with the option to put Sokka into a Kyoshi Warrior garb, that it hasn't come up sooner.

I'm not really sure. I enjoy working on these scenes and I certainly would like to see the improvements being carried over to earlier parts. Still, I'm already holding myself back immensely to keep the file size as low as I can so it might also depend on how big FET would be when it's done in the current state. And finally I'm not certain it wouldn't take forever.
I'm always going to support twinks and femboys, keep up the good work!

Don't get too happy yet! I'm going to wait until rob has the "bare bones" version ready and only then I'm going to send him the extra's. I might have become a bit too cautious, but I prefer that over a spray and pray attitude right now.

That was interesting to read :D. I'm happy you're doing fine overall and RIP keyboard. I wanted to ask something particular. This game reached a very great point so far and you can clearly see the huge differences in experience if you go along the parts especially regarding animation. In short the game gets better and better with each progress which is why I wanted to ask if you guys will eventually consider updating the old animations. The biggest reason is the huge difference in animation quality since it gets clearly better on the newer parts of the game.

By twink scene do you mean your character in a threesome? Or do you mean like a gay scene with another guy, with the other guy possibly even looking feminine or even dressed feminine? I'm Bi, and really into femboys, so either path I'm 100% on board with.
