Art/progress update
🕑 Added 2017-08-05 17:38:20 +0000 UTC Finished the stuff for book 2! But that's not really what I wanted to talk about so on to the progress part of this update.We felt pretty bad when we had to postpone the release last month. Especially the coder had it bad because his hands were tied and couldn't do much of anything. We resigned ourselves to that fact but were ready to put our asses into the highest gear once he got back to make up for the lost time. It's then when we rediscovered this age old nugget of wisdom: when it rains it pours. Misery loves company etc.
The only ass in high gear currently is mine (and I have the chafe marks to prove it!) but of course I can only do so much by myself. The coder is not able to do anything at the moment. Another bit of bad luck hit him when he returned from the funeral because he's down with fever.
Considering the hectic time he's had, bad sleeping accommodations and just the stress of it all I'm not really all that surprised his resistance against disease was lowered and picked up something nasty along the way.
He's a trooper so he did manage to send me a short email telling me about it and saying he's doing everything to overcome it quickly, but I told him to take it easy and don't force the issue. I tried forcing it once which only prolonged the time to get better.
Long story short, strap yourself in for waiting some more(again/still) for which we can't apologize enough, but that's just the way things are right now. Please shout at us in the comments if that makes you feel better.
Btw. we'd like to thank everyone who wrote us messages of support in the last update. We appreciate it very much.
Soooooo........ that accounts for the coder/writer but what about me? What have I been doing besides wrapping up a few pics here and there? Well, when one man's down the other tries to pick up the pace. Which is hard when you closely work together but I have a little side project I've been working on for book 3. It's one of the few things I can do right now so I decided to make that my number one priority.
Because I haven't even been able to show the coder the result I'm still not sure whether I've been wasting my time or made something nice, but I've been working on a new way to incorporate the fights in the game for book 3. Hopefully making them feel more like a (fun) part of the story.
I really wasn't even going to mention it originally. I don't want to inflate expectations for something which might not even be an improvement, but I wanted you guys to know what I'm spending this "lost" time on.
It was originally an idea of the coder which he told me about a long time ago and I've been working slowly but steadily on getting it to work. A lot more so the last week, but generally it's been a long term project for me.
I... *think* it's an improvement, but like I said, I'm the only person who has seen it and I have no idea whether my opinion on it is anything other than personal bias.
Speaking of book 3, there's still the thing about aging up Toph visibly or not. I'd like to stick to her appearance in the original cartoon, the coder is fine with whatever the patrons want but we've been getting some mixed signals from you guys whether we should age her up or not. So I was kind of hoping you could give us a clear signal on which way we should go once we've wrapped up book 2.
If we can't get a clear yay or nay we might do a higher tier poll, but this is such an important decision we'd like it to be something all our patrons can have a say in.
So, aging up Toph visually...yes or no?

As long as Toph doesn't turn into a titty monster and is recognizable, i won't mind if she age up a little bit (especially if the story takes place +3 years after Avatar TLA). Smaller boobs =/= lolis, anyways.

Original Toph. If you change the characters' appearance too much from the source, you might wind up losing some interest. I don't know how feasible it would be to have an earthbending scroll to age her up or down like katara's boobs in book 1, but if that's something doable, maybe look at that?

Original for sure, but I like boomer's idea. Maybe start off w/ original in the early iterations of book 3, and later when you've had the time add scrolls (similar to book 1) to age her.

After thinking about it last night i still say keeping her the way she is would be best, but adding an aged up toph as an unlockable or in a side mission is a way you could keep everyone satisfied without too much extra coding

Just as you've kept the characters of the previous two books almost identical to their appearance in the cartoon, I'd like to see that trend continuing :).

I would say keep her size and shape the same, but aging her up in terms of personality and overall character would be a good idea. Just good to keep everything as above reproach as possible, and personally, I think it make the character more interesting anyway. Maybe she's just short, ya know? Plus, that satisfies both side the discussion pretty well I think.

Hello, love the game, big fan of your work. Wanted to talk about Toph and the whole idea of age with all of you. If you go the route to age Toph, she will no longer be Toph. Everything about this character will just feel wrong, don't go down this route only to help a small number of people get over some small minded worry. If they wanna get down to brass tax with the topic, most of the love characters in book 1 & 2 are not aged and look 100% like the characters on Tv. (Ignore some breast sizes and other small details, it was done in a respected manner) This is pretty much set in stone the moment the game was made, no point trying to change it now. I hope you and your team keep doing amazing work, here's hoping you pick the right choice <3

I kinda hate to bring this topic up, but since this seems to become an extended discussion, I just think everyone should have the same base of knowledge. I don't know how much you concern yourself with the legal aspect of this project, but although I obviously would like to keep this fun project as far away from the heartless realm of law and order, it’s kinda necessary to know: Currently, countries that have made it illegal to possess (as well as create and distribute) sexual images of fictional characters who are described as or appear to be under eighteen years old include Australia, Canada, the Philippines, South Africa, South Korea and the United Kingdom. Now, depending on where you live, this might be an issue for you or not, but I kind of feel maybe it’s not so great to go down this route either way. I‘m also pretty sure the disclaimer „All characters have been aged up to 18 and exist in an alternate reality where events started years into the future“ on the home page doesn’t just exist for fun – but if you claim it, you can’t just keep Toph as is since „as is“ she’s clearly not 18. I‘ll admit, as I said before, I’m not the biggest fan of young Toph either way, so it’s your right to say I’m biased, but I’ll still hope you consider my point and make sure that, if in the end you go with young Toph, everything is alright from the legal point of view.

I would say age her up, there is a way to do that that would keep the look of Toph from the original show but still make her look more mature for people who aren't into loli. You can always look off the Avatar comics like The Promise and the Rift for ideas on Teen!Toph.

Unless the MC's suddenly thrown into the future in Republic City, it'll make no sense for her to look older. I realize this game making sense is not too likely considering the MC's hilarious tendencies, but still.

I prefer the original Toph, while many things have been changed from the original Avatar story I've actually been pretty surprised at how many lines and events have been incorporated into the game. I don't think aging anybody is the way to go.

You could go with the main file here and have a true original Toph file in a download. I hope that will be something you can do, so you can placate everyone. I don't want you to alienate anyone.

First of all feel better and thanks for any information, it's always awesome. For toph I would say it would be best to see an example of what both would look like before we decide. Just a single image of both either nude or not depending on which one you think will lead to a clearer answer. Alternatively there could be a potion like katara that switches it if that's not too much trouble or if she ends up being set as one or the other you could still have a section of the story take you to the past or future to see the other one for a little while, either as a dream or some kind of avatar training progress that has past or future toph help you. Then you bang her but also still the help for story purposes. So you would still get a bit of both

Oh there might be another solution you could add both forms young and adult and give the player the option to choose witch one he likes and go along with it oh and btw i wish you guys a good recovery dont stress your selfs out too much. I'd rather having something late and well polished and well made then to have something rushed and unfinished.

I say keep her the same design, everyone else is, and do what you did with Katara a bit, but instead of changing her breasts size like Katara change her to be older and have you unlock it before doing anything naughty with her so people not interested in regular toph are not forced to do anything with her. Thats just a long way of saying keep her the same and only offer to change her as an option.

If we're using a timeline, Book 1 had Katara when Aang was first visiting the Southern Water Tribe and Book 2 had things near the end of the series. I'm assuming Book 4 will be in Korra's future timeline so that would leave you a lot of wiggle room to play with Toph as far as what age to go with. Personally, I've been a fan of Morganagod's busty adult Toph, but at least aging her up a bit might be the way to go.

Don't worry about the delay, as invested as you guys are in this, I don't think anyone in the community will blame you for anything - we know how hard you work and appreciate it! So best wishes to the coder, get well soon! If anything, it would be neat if you could open up the playtesting period to all patreons this month, just to compensate a litte. On the Toph topic, I personally would like to have it set a little bit later than the series to have her just a bit aged up - without changing the personality ofcourse. But then the Avatar reference is not the most important thing about the game for me, so I could see the hardcore avatar fans going on the fences which is why I would be fine with both ^^

You could probably keep her the same whilst saying that she is older but that she hasn't hit her growth spurt. After all this is an alternate universe, you are allowed to bend the rules as you see fit.
Maybe 2 parts of book 3? Keep her as is in the cartoon for a big chunk of it and then maybe age her for some classic main character milf action. But either way. I love Toph. Do what you think is best.
