Loved the read , keep up the good work

Max Müller

I just had another thought: The total Population of greece according to what i could find is somewhere around 5-7 Million. If he really maanged tot ake most of it, Constantine might be able to get rid of one of his bigged problems: Manpower

RENAISSANSE SI

That’s a great question, and honestly, I’m not sure exactly how he’ll be perceived in the end. On one hand, defeating the Ottomans multiple times, killing Murad II, spreading knowledge through printing, and pushing advances in medicine could make him look like a savior of Christendom. On the other, sainthood is rarely given for political or military triumphs alone and Constantine’s reforms and alliances might divide opinion for centuries. How history, and the Church, will remember him is still very much unwritten.

Kirra

Weird question: Do you think Constantine will become a saint after his death? He has defeated the Ottoman Empire four times so far and even managed to kill the Emperor Murad II. Furthermore, he has enabled a far better dissemination of knowledge and ideas through printing presses. Then we have what he is trying to do with medical knowledge, which, although we have not seen much of so far, is still something that I believe he will continue to improve during his lifetime.

RENAISSANSE SI

One last throw indeed, let’s see if fortune still remembers the heirs of Rome.

RENAISSANSE SI

Thank you!

RENAISSANSE SI

Yeah, that would be great to explore, can’t promise just yet though, it’ll depend on how the story flow shapes up.

RENAISSANSE SI

Yeah, this is really the start of a new era!

RENAISSANSE SI

I love those kinds of stories too, and I’d like to weave in that POV now and then, they’re just tricky to get right. I’ll try to slip some in where they fit best.

RENAISSANSE SI

Exactly, poetic symmetry has a way of finding its mark in this story.

RENAISSANSE SI

Glad you enjoyed it! As for Epirus and Thessaly, let’s just say Constantine’s map has some spaces he’s eyeing…

RENAISSANSE SI

Yeap, sometimes you leave the banquet table early so you can choose the next one yourself.

RENAISSANSE SI

Thank you!

Pearl of the Orient

unarguable wrong inflection. It should be either Unarguably or Inarguably both have the same meaning, but inarguably implies greater certainty At the back, wrapped in a torn carpet Upon the cart, tied within a torn carpet lay the remains that had once been the Sultan Murad

Davada

Even that is a lot of land to administrator and given how exhausted the army is its best to digest gains for bit and rest until the next war with the ottomans

Davada

So am guessing Constantine will be taking thesally,Macedonia thesoloniki, mount athos given how important it is to orthodoxy, the ottoman part of epirus (the tocco lands will be reconqured in a bit probably) ottoman authority would be gone in albania so maybe Constantine can get the albanians to join the serbs will probably take some border lands

Kirra

Honestly, I would love to have a long chapter just focused on the citizens of the Roman Empire. I mean, in only 6 years, one man has single-handedly changed the fate of a dying empire.

Katherine

Line Infantry woo! Good to see the focus on training in proper gunpowder based infantry tactics made a huge differnce in this battle.

Gavriil Kourouklis

To be honest I don't think the Romans were not that type of people to do that, they did have Honor though. I would say normally the Catholics would actually try and attempt that but Constantine respecting the corpse shows he respects another monarch regardless of being enemies, which will be good in the peace treaty, because it shows good faith. Sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do to have an advantage politically and Territorially.

Bobby Hill

It will be nice to see a chapter on Edrine after Murad, and to see the Harem Politics shine through.

pls don't ban me

i mean. it coukd be useful as negotiation: leave us the city and you can have back you dead sultan to take him to edirne. should work.

Aresswe

Awesome chapter once again!

Mineseikea

Not happy, they should have pissed on him, thrown him in the latrine and buried him there.

russell marsh

One more roll of the dice, one more march and let see if we can take back what's rightly belong to the true hairs of Rome

Wen L.

Constantine will give Murad's body proper treatment, but I think his treacherous brother might be scampering after hearing his benefactor is dead. Byzantine Emperors are notoriously ruthless to relatives. :)

Gavriil Kourouklis

YES YES YES THIS MENTION THIS

Great chapter, it's time to consolidate his power and Thessaloniki is the best position. Also, @Empire Rewritten, don't forget with the routing and collapse of the Ottoman army, including the death of Murad and Turham Bey, the supply wagon train they had should now be in Constantine's hands. This means Ottoman grain, livestock, horses, armor, swords, bows, arrows, and a considerable coffers of Gold/Silver from Sultan Murad II has been procured. During Medieval era, armies usually carry alot of money and supplies for prolonged campaigns to support soldiers, Murad fielding an army nearly twice the size of Constantine must have a lot of resources. What is Constantine going to do with the Sultan's treasures that came with the defeated army is going to be very important. He was one of richest men in the Balkans, but right now, he's just got a windfall that's equivalent to several years of national budgets.Maybe a good idea to talk to Medici family about investments and developing some other industrial technology for future trade and warfare, like metal leaf springs of 17th century (some printing presses use springs, the basis for suspension on wagons for land transport, and wheeled artillery pieces for battlefields). Metal springs are a small innocuous tech that is simple to create with wide ranging function. They may not have as high quality in gunpowder as Constantine (powder ratios differ from nation to nation during the early era of gunpowder warfare), but if given to the proper alchemist/chemist, he could restock his gunpowder stock with the Ottoman supplies as well. Murad must have some gunpowder meant for sapping fortified towns or cities with his army.

Hugo23

Brilliant chapter, not only does it force the Ottoman's to confront reality but it lets the worries dominate their thoughts as the Crusade marches on. The men know exactly what brought them victory, I don't think I could put it better than that. "They minted history" The messaging that will surround the return of Murad's body will shake a lot of different tree's, especially once it is known his body was seen to under the auspices of his religion. That no bloody trophy was seized (outside of banners but come on who doesn't want proof?). It will send a message to both Rome and Mecca, to Constantinople and beyond.

Sif

They helped sow a civil war between his brothers, now they'll have a taste of it for themselves.

Gavriil Kourouklis

Nice chapter and this shows respect, would have been nice . Tell me do you plan to annex Epirus and thessaly

Jan Mantsch

To advance sometimes a step back has to be taken! We took one step backward and now we will advance 2 forewards and then perhaps another untill we need to step back once more!
