I love how your able to mix the words on English with the poetry of Renaissance Latin to make such flowery praises and deflections. Truly someone who is well versed in the words of both past and present. ❤️

Yeap, the need for stability and an heir now really tipped the balance, and Serbia brings solid short- and long-term advantages.

RENAISSANSE SI

Thank you! Yeah, Constantine’s status is elevated by now. As for the wife, I thought a lot about it, different options on the table, and went with what felt right both for the story and for historical plausibility.

Thank you!

We’ll definitely see a bit from her side in future chapters.

Writing Katarina is definitely gonna be tricky, not gonna lie. But she’s an interesting figure, so it should be fun to figure out how to bring her to life. Any suggestions?

A serbian bride makes sense as it falls in the Eastern Orthodox sphere as well and the Burgundian prospect is too young to have children, when Constantine needs an heir for his throne. I do wonder how you will write Katarina, a teenage bridge to the much older Constantine.

Max Müller

hmm interesting how it moves along

They did get the cities of Nis and Vranje.

pls don't ban me

i'm still surprised serbia did take only money in the war

pls don't ban me

i mean, the best thing he could do is tell her from the start what happened. bu also explain that he is ready to dedicate his love to her

pls don't ban me

he cans tart with the most basilar thing: WASH YOUR FUCKING HANDS. just that lower by at least 50% the post part deaths

I think it would be really interesting to get a pov chapter for Katarina - maybe as she’s told what’s happening by her father, and then following her traveling through the empire to get to Constantine, seeing some of the things he’s accomplished.

Honestly my vote would be on anyone Wikipedia says isn't gonna die historically from childbirth. Also, I know MC doesnt exactly have what we'd call a robust medical education background or training, but he can do the next best thing. Divert some of his new funds for a public healthcare ministry or department. Encourage and sponsor medical training and education to make more specialists, and either cheapen or make free healthcare for his citizens. Public sanitation too. Cant rmb if he already started on those. Either way, it'll help with manpower concerns in future conflicts. A happy and healthy public is gonna be more willing and able to fill his armies with bodies.

Well the decision has been made for better or worse. I hope Constantine has learned from his two life times of relationships problems. I just hope his new bride doesn't get to mad about his runway ex mistress, that's going to awkward if and when that gets out

The author is Greek and uses ai tools to translate the story to English

Artherion

I'm sorry if this is a rude thing to ask, but have you started using AI? Last few chapters are very hard to read, full of prose, makes it very dificult to read as a coherent whole.

They did, both were dismissed as outreach's that couldn't be reached at the time. Both would require Constantinople to be taken to have any meaningful connection and both were in weaker positions than Constantine at the time.

Alexander the Smoker

Surprised that places like Trebizond and Georgia weren’t also sending marriage offers, considering Constantine has consolidated his position among Christendom and actually defeated the Ottomans in a major way. Wonder what they think of it. Serbia does make sense, both strategically and for Constantine, morally. It’s a good way to ensure a closer ally is near your border with your common enemy. Hopefully something longer lasting can happen out of this arrangement.

good chappie

Excellent chapter! Nice to see Theophilus back always good to have a guy who just says "Give me the numbers and I will make them dance." An excellent counter as well to Rome, perfectly polite and dripping with venom. Just the right amount of hidden "You say we are brothers under the Cross, prove it, we are bound already are we not?" that puts the Pope on the backfoot, Constantine is not his follower or pawn, he is a player. I won't lie I was very much hoping for Elizabeth of Hungary but without Sigismund that just wouldn't happen. That said Serbia is a probably the best choice, especially how deep the historic ties between the two go. Looking to the future Serbia was in this era, like a bone pulled between Hungary and the Ottomans, with the Ottomans occupied and Serbia definitely choosing door number three opportunities abound...

Kirra

Katarina Branković was born in 1418, so she is 17. While the marriage to Lady Agnes of Cleves might be more prestigious, the problem is the wait, yeah, two years is not a long wait, but the newly reformed Roman Empire needs stability, and an heir to the throne will do that. A marriage alliance with Serbia will give Constantine a good ally in the region, which could have both short-term and long-term benefits.
